About me:
Are you a wrestler or an athlete in another sport and want to succeed? Do you wonder how the ones that are crowned champion got there? Why them and not you? What's so special about their training? What are they doing to prepare themselves? How are they dealing with the same issues that I have?
TRAIN LIKE A CHAMPION is a wrestling book that emcompases all the answers to the questions above and many, many more.
It is a motivational wrestling book that was written for the high school athlete. I open my techniques to you in this book. It is an awesome book that every wrestler should read over and over again.
I wrote the book because I want to help as many high school wrestlers and other high school athletes achieve what they want out of the sport they participate in. I have been involved in the sport of wrestling for over 18 years now and I have learned many things along the way. One thing is for sure; the way to become better at what you do is to set a solid foundation of basic skills and techniques. I have found the best way to go from a good foundation to a great foundation is to teach what you love to others. There is just something about it when you break down everything into simple, basic steps and explain them in detail to others that it starts to click in your own head. Writing this book is another way for me as an individual to improve my skills as a wrestler and a coach.
I have been a lover of the sport of wrestling ever since I could begin to fight back against my older brother when I was a little kid. I grew up in New Jersey and began wrestling when I was in 6th grade. I was always one who loved the competition of baseball and football, but when I stepped foot on the wrestling mat when I was 11 years old I never looked back on those others sports. It was wrestling and only wrestling from that point on. I began wrestling for the rec wrestling programs and High School varsity team as a freshman. I eventually became the co-captain my junior and senior years. I also wrestled with a prestigious Wrestling School program in North Jersey along with many top wrestlers in the New Jersey High School wrestling league, which helped me do very well at the New Jersey High School State Wrestling tournaments. Afterwards, I was a walk on at Big Ten University my junior year. After college I became an assistant coach for a High School in Hawaii and then an assistant coach for a dominate High School program in California. I was also head coach of a youth program in California. Now I am the head coach at UCSD as well as the head coach at the San Diego Wrestling club, where high school wrestlers from all over the county come to learn and wrestle. Within the seven years I have coached we've have experienced great success. We’ve had 6 state champions and 2 state finalists. We have also had over 25 other state placers. Our teams have also won a State Championship (CA), two State Runner-up (CA) and two 8th place finishes (HI). Over 10 of our wrestlers are wrestling in college and junior college. As well, the head coaches I have coached with have won Coach of the year and National Coach of the Year awards twice while I coached beneath them.
Check out the book and learn how to become a champion!
