Our origins go back to 2003, when Toivo, as keyboard player for 1970s Australian prog rock band Sebastian Hardie, was supporting the Sydney and Melbourne concerts for progressive rock legends Yes, a tour that was instigated by me and our local group of fans - YesFANZ. After the concerts we felt we were on a creative high and wanted this magic to continue. I set up a studio in Glebe, an old inner Sydney suburb, and initially our intention was just to jam and create our own fun.
At first the music was purely keyboard and synthesiser based, with a theremin being added later. Then an old friend Mark Hudson joined us on guitars. Mark played with James Reyne in an early version of Australian Crawl, and had also played with Max Sharam and other Sydney groups. For some time Athol Spraggs contributed on many sessions assisting with engineering and bass and drum programmes.
