Dave Halverson: guitar......... Terry Lee: drums................. Bill Noertker: fretless bass....
Influences
many divergent influences that would make little sense in a list, but a few general ones -- art rock from the past, mid-80's metal guitar, jazz from the 50's and 60's, instrumental music of strange origins...
Trance Lucid was formed in 1993 by guitarist Dave Halverson. Initially, the focus was jazz-inflected instrumental music incorporating rock elements and a wide range of tonal colors.
After several years of recording in St. Louis, MO, the first Trance Lucid cd, Arise, was released in January 1996. Originally a 4-piece band in its live incarnation (Terry Lee/drums, Scott Lowrey/bass, Paul Su/guitar and keyboards), Trance Lucid evolved into a 3-piece outfit in early 1997, and also changed the lineup, adding Scott Blue on bass.
In late 1997, Halverson and Lee relocated the band to Oakland, CA, and began the search for a new bass player. Bay Area veteran Bill Noertker joined the band in February 1998. Noertker’s fretless bass stylings have enhanced the Trance Lucid live experience and lend a definitive jazz flavor to the music.
In mid-1998, the band began performing regularly around the Bay Area and began working on its second cd. Vigil was released in August 2000.
After the subsequent years of live performances and working on other projects, the band refocused its energies on a new recording, released in March 2005. The Colours of Darkness is a harder-edged collection of music, culled from the darker part of the band repertoire.
A live cd was released in December 2007. Unrevisited Live is a collection of previously unreleased songs recorded at five different shows. A new studio recording is in the conceptual stages.
I haven't heard CatWalk in so long! Dave, it takes me right back to those precious hours of concentration that were so hard to come by at you know who's studio. It still sounds great. Terry, what's up man? Long time huh? We were looking at photos from our wedding the other day - nice red hair you had back then.
