After recently returning from an amazing string of performances, Dr. Birthday has gotten some national love, notably in the form of KEXP, KALX and WEBR airplay and tons of new fans attacking venues to hear them play. The locally produced upcoming album (Father of The Year) showcases lead songwriter Douglas Masters' witty late-night lyricisms and the sharp musicianship of his five-piece band featuring harmony vocals from John Wegman, JR Hopkins and countless others including Adrianne Verhoeven (formerly of The Anniversary). Ranging from tuneful indie hip hop blues and funk to jubilant lo-fi-in-hi-fi pop punk rock, "Dr. Birthday" is taking flight with spats of regional touring and blogosphere luv.
