From North Texas, roughly the same movement that birthed Bedhead, American Analog Set, and Centro-matic. Transona Five is an ongoing experiment in sound and love. The story begins in 1994 on a mountain in Montana, and continues through today, where founding members Chris Anderson, G.P. Cole, and Greg Morgan still search for the perfect melody. Spread the word--good things are still to come.
What the press has to say:
"Like a lover's lashes brushing your cheeks, Velvet-ey, heavy lidded, this is music to bliss out to. Gorgeous in a Galaxie 500 sort of way."-Pop Culture Press
"Sublime pop. With its fragile ba-ba-bas and subtle guitars, it seems like it disappears in thin air until you realize that it still echoes inside your head."-Dallas Observer
"For anyone who grew up near Denton (Texas) in the mid-to-late 90's, Transona Five was legendary, a key figure in the space-rock scene that briefly put the city on the national map...the time is right for Transona to come out of retirement and play among the stars again."-The Onion A.V. Club
"The results are quiet, beautiful, trance-inducing songs, seven of them, that leave you wanting an eighth. 4 Stars"-The Austin Chronicle
"as devastating and as concise as anything Tom Verlaine ever laid down in the studio."-Bagatellen.com
"Evoking images of cosmos-cruising starships with their ethereal melodies and row-upon-row of effect pedals, Transona Five is not about creating music for the new millennium and beyond. Rather, the Denton/Dallas quartet keeps its feet collectively planted, focusing attention on strong pop constructions without any grandiloquent futuristic philosophy. If Transona Five has a vision of tomorrow it's a stripped-down, efficient one more akin to The Jetsons than 2001."-FWWeekly

35 years after Nixon started the war on drugs, we have over one million non-violent drug offenders living behind bars.
The War on Drugs has become the longest and most costly war in American history, the question has become, how much more can the country endure? Inspired by the death of four family members from "legal drugs" Texas filmmaker Kevin Booth sets out to discover why the Drug War has become such a big failure. Three and a half years in the making, the film follows gang members, former DEA agents, CIA officers, narcotics officers, judges, politicians, prisoners and celebrities including General Barry McCaffrey, Cynthia McKinney, Ron Paul, Ralph Nader, Joe Rogan, Jello Biafra, and Tommy Chong.
Join us for a private screening of this movie on Sunday, March 30th from 3-6 PM, at the Spiderhouse Cafe. For more information and to RSVP, follow the link below. Click here

So, every year for the last three, winterstar has done the RPM Challenge. (www.rpmchallenge.com) Last year, at the end, this guy in Plano collected a bunch of albums and released a pretty sweet RPM sampler. (Our song, "Ghost, 1955" was featured.) Anyway, this year, I got to talking to him and decided that just maybe the fabric that makes up this crazy musicianship of the U.S. was inclusive enough and asked him if he'd ever seen you play. He said, "Just once, in either '98 or '99. I remember their song "3 Way Glider." I didn't get to meet them, but I remember that song."
So, I thought that story was pretty rad. We can play six degrees of separation with probably anyone!
