Transpontine's Blurbs |
About me:
Transpontine is a South East London blogzine covering things that are happening, things that happened, things that should never have happened. Things to do in Deptford when you're not dead, plus New Cross, Brockley, Old Kent Road and other beauty spots.
We are also involved in History is Made at Night, a site dedicated to the politics and history of dancing and musicking, including various generations of ravers and riotous disco bunnies.
'Transpontine' is defined in dictionaries as 'on the other (i.e. the south) side of the bridges over the Thames; pertaining to or like the lurid melodrama played in theatres there in the 19th century'. We take our inspiration from the lurid, vulgar, raucous and rowdy South London popular culture through the ages.
|
Who I'd like to meet:
William Blake, Austin Osman Spare, Louise Michel and Syd Barrett for a picnic on Camberwell Green (all lived, worked or studied in South London).
