if you haven't tried a 'childhood bomb' then you don't know what you're missing! You do it like you do a jagerbomb, but it tastes like heaven and 1.5 times stronger!
On the back of a recent MSTRKRFT gig and their epic NYE party featuring Felix Da Housecat, Spank Rock and Chromeo, Killer continue to bring the noise with Killer: Diplo & Boy 8-bit, October 3 at the Prince Bandroom.
With recent production work for M.I.A., Santogold and Bonde Do Role, and an extensive catalogue of remixes, Diplo (USA) has gained a reputation as one of the most innovative and in-demand DJs and beatmakers today.
Founder of the Mad Decent label and Hollertronix DJ collective, musical globe-trotter Diplo is credited with introducing Brazilian baile funk to international listeners with his Favela on Blast and Favela Strikes Back mixtapes. His 2007 visit to Australia saw him establish the non-profit Heaps Decent workshop program, helping indigenous youths learn the ropes of music production. In 2008 Diplo has released Santogold’s Top Ranking mixtape and collaborated with Jamaican dancehall artists on the Major Lazer project.
Diplo’s high-energy DJ sets blend an eclectic mix of hip hop, house, baile funk, Miami bass, dancehall, 80s rock, and a dash of the totally unexpected to create a furious party atmosphere.
Supporting Diplo is Mad Decent labelmate and Amiga-nerd-turned-party-rocker Boy 8-Bit (UK), whose unique sound combines chopped-up vocals with heavy bass and breakbeats on recent releases such as The Suspense is Killing Me.
Killer presents Diplo & Boy 8-Bit with supports Sleater Brockman, Ooh-ee & Agent 86. October 3, Prince Bandroom.
