Trassar is an Icelandic heavy metal band. It was founded in august 1987 by the band's guitarists, Runar and a slightly hung over Bjossi. They hardly knew how to play the instruments at that time, but nevertheless used every available opportunity to spread the word.
Their playing skills advanced steadily and over the next four years the band was manned by increasingly skilled musicians. They pounded out a bunch of songs before differences within the band caused the collapse in 1991.
Bjossi and Runar always aimed to reform the band though but as fate would have it 14 years passed before Trassar came back to life in 2005. After a few experiments, the gang that ended up playing on Trassar's first record were Lúlli on bass guitar, Jon Geir on drums and the powerhouse singer Óli.
To begin with Lúlli joined up for a few months of jam sessions in Runar's garage, where the three of them went through the old material adding to it and replacing passages they thought had not aged well. Then, as new lyrics were being written and the songs were taking form, a lot of new songs started to emerge.
They soon realised that this would become a record, but the interruption of new songs constantly springing up forced them eventually to suppress writing or they would never get the first record done.
The album Amen is out now and in stores nationwide. Trassar are currently playing as many gigs as possible to promote the album.
