Heroes
Ernest Gordon - a POW in Thailand during WW2, his story is amazing!
Dr. Catherine Hamlin - started a fistula hospital in Ethiopia!
Albert Schweitzer - gave up a life of success to love the poor and be a doctor in Africa!
The unknown heroes of missions and caring for the poor. For what they have done, and for the fact that they have done so quietly, with little fame or prestige - I want to live up to that!
I guess I should say I'm not in the Phillipines, anymore! I got home in December and now I'm Youth Pastoring at my home church, and Loving It!
If you wanna keep up with me, find me on Facebook and check out my blog:
Take A Trip With Me - Come Visit Penang, Malaysia!
Here are some of my pics from one of the most amazing, diverse and beautiful places on earth. (disclaimer, these are actually my pictures scanned into the computer, that's why they're just off clear)
Of all the places I've seen so far, it's #1!
Who I'd like to meet: ...all ya'll.
Anyone quietly loving the poor, spending their lives in service to "the least of these", just as Jesus showed us how!
Anyone who loves to laugh, enjoys witty sarcasm and/or dancing!!
Anyway, hope life is going really well with the midwifery, studentry, and pastortry. Yeah, those aren't real words, but still good. We are heading up to Calgary and Canmore this summer. I don't know where GP is, but if it is close we are looking at setting up a house show that maybe you would be able to come and see. So, hope you are well, and that you enjoy a delightful spring. Hannah & Samuel
Thank you so much for finding our music and for the request. So, you obviously know Dani & Johnny, and I am guessing that you might have been in the Philipines around the same time? Anyway, it is good to meet anyone who is friends with the Kennedys. You might also like Samuel's other band called Of The Isles. A beautiful spring in Alberta to you.
I miss you too! Jacqui is coming here for spring break, I wish you were coming as well. You look so beautiful in your profile picture... even Johnny noticed! I love you, and I miss you. come back to boise!
Cebu was great! I had a good time in fellowship with other Filipino Christian doctors and savoring the local foods at "Larsians" and "Su-Tu-Kil"! On February 14 was an unexpected big date with God at a concert entitled "His Love" featuring Gary Valenciano, a popular Christian singer/songwriter/artist.. I was blessed to witness Gary perform and spread the Good News through his concert.. many who attended, expecting a regular pop concert, accepted Jesus that night c: very cool!
Hi Kim! You are back? CAnI have your phone number? I have met your old youth pastor Jen, she lives in my town! crazy. my no. is 250-352-7075. talk to you soon!
Heya, Kim! I'm going to Cebu next week for a Christian Leadership training for doctors! I might have a day to go around. What are the "must see" places?
that sounds awesome! yeah i cant wait till winter and christmas! im going to university here in maine now, studying finance, but im trying to transfer to boston for teh spring and learn some chinese :-)
busy.. school.. worship band.. taking over and continuing missions to the Mangyans.. raising funds to maintain the FREE services for the indigents in Mindoro..
Hey Kim, how are you? Are you still in the Philippines and how is midwifery going? I hope you are well and doing ok. Happy birthday for Wednesday.Hope it is a good one...a day you'll treasure forever (at least for the cross cultural value!). Take care, thinking of you. Bye love.
Hey Kim. I'm so glad I got to spend my last days in Manila hanging out with you. I miss you lady, and they were good times. I miss that life actually. So you would be in Cebu now hey. Keep me posted on how it all goes. I'm so excited for you. You're getting to do what you went there to do. As for me, I haven't found it easy being back, which is normal I guess. Seeing faces, people I've missed is great, can't say I'm too excited to be back in oz tho, but it will take time. Loved Boise again, and miss it, and staying with Carrie and Rick, and hanging out with Katie, and warm weather. Maybe I'll move there. Who knows hey. But let me know how it all goes in the clinic. I want to hear all your exciting news and adventures. Take care my friend.
Kim! Thank you for your words, I miss you... my heart goes out to you right now because I know how it feels to be so far away from familiarity... it's a bittersweet adventure huh? And you have been gone for quite some time now. I miss you! I am glad you get to be a student midwife again! I am going to volunteer at a midwifery while we are in Guatemala... so excited about that. We are going on our own, just our own family adventure. We know about some orphanages that could use some help holding babies, so we'll see what happens there... I'm also planning on taking as many birthing supplies as I can to donate... basic needs like sterile gloves can make all the difference! Love you Kim!
Yes it was pretty crowded at church today so i could understand why the others would want to rush out for the malls.. anyway, when are you leaving for Cebu? I'll be doing some school work tomorrow and buying some supplies for the clinics but might be free in the evening so you and the girls might want to hang out tomorrow night before you leave? There is this island north of Cebu that i'd been wanting to visit and talk to you about
Yeah. I have the pics in my computer. We can meet at the Bonifacio apartment tomorrow morning. Jen might want copies of them, too c: did I tell you there is a Matt Redman Worship concert on Saturday?
hi kim.... i just got here, but don't have my cell, wanna go to PG tomorrow, early? get on here and tell me if that sounds good to you! tomorrow as in Saturday....?
Hahaha! Yeah. I thought I wouldn't be able to get out of bed yesterday after being on the road all night and most of the day. Hey, don't forget to do your groceries in the city before coming over to the island. Food is cheaper there. c:
Hey Kim. Yeah I'm doing pretty well actually, here in stinkin hot Bohol. I've had my moments but everyday feel more and more a part of this place. I still suck at Visayan though. Thankyou for your lovely comments on my pics. I have been wanting to update them for a while. And yeah, my brother is a bit of a stud, but unfortunately ladies he has a beautiful wife, of 9 years, otherwise I would be setting you all up with him, playing perfect match you know. How are you travelling? How's life in crazy Manila? And all those babies in your pics, how beautiful are they. Makes me all clucky just looking at them. I hope you are all doing well. And I will definitely see you all when I get back, maybe around May 16 or 17. Miss you guys. Will be great to see you again soon, you fabulous midwives you.
Hey thanks Kim! We will not go down without a fight!! So how is 'catching babies?' Let me just say that your pictures are absolutely amazing! I hope that you are having amazing experiences.
