Travis Abercrombie is now a Christian modern rock singer/songwriter originally hailing from South Carolina. Travis himself had been performing at various clubs, colleges, and festivals since 1996. He started off his music career at Clemson University, where he co-founded one of South Carolina's most successful college bands at the time, Seven Miles. The group ended up selling at least 2000 CD's in its career ending in 1999, which left Travis wanting to take his career to the next level. So, after recording a spiritual, debut solo album, Bridges, he decided to pick up and move to Nashville in 2001 to "stick out" as a rock-pop artist in a predominately country town. After getting to Nashville, he began playing writer's nights and open mic nights at venues like The Bluebird Cafe, Douglas Corner, and The French Quarter Cafe among many others. All the while, he continued to write new material that would end up being on Travis' breakout CD, entitled Spin. Spin hit the stores, and the band hit the stage. The buzz started to come, and they found that they had the talent, drive, and eventually, a business team, to be propelled to the next level. Two local entertainment publications, The Nashville Scene and The Rage, both had the Travis Abercrombie Band as their "Critics' Pick" for every single local Nashville show. Better yet, the southeast regional entertainment publication, The Weekly's, Inc., wrote a full-page article saying that The Travis Abercrombie Band was the next "Band on the Brink". The band toured throughout late 2002, and all of 2003 to promote Spin ...selling over 2500 copies at shows!!! But, THE highlight of Travis' career came in April 2003, when the band had the honor of opening for one of Travis' biggest influences, Vertical Horizon, at the University of Texas' "40 Acres Fest" in front of thousands of people! For whatever reason, the band burned out on the road for 3 years and grueling lineup changes that hindered chemistry. So, frustrated, Travis relocated back to SC in 2004, and he began just having fun with music again. He reunited with his old "Seven Miles" buddies and renamed themselves "Sidecar Stan" and are now touring the SE just having a blast! Even though he's not touring as a solo artist, he's still writing...Travis' 2005 released album, " Tied ", hit internet stores and over 250 college radio stations as of September 05!! Check out what the largest indie internet store, Cdbaby.com, says about the new album 'Tied'..."Only a matter of time before these songs hit radio. The best indie mainstream pop/rock album out there." 2006 started in a totally different direction...the Christian/Inspirational genre of music is one that Travis never paid much attention to. However, he has been a Christian all his life and heard it at church. He just has never written any outright Christian music before. Well a couple of reasons changed that. First of all, his mother surviving stage 4 melonoma when every doctor didn't give her any chance...Seeing her never falter in her faith and attitude...Secondly, he realized that he had been living a lie...claiming being a Christian, but living in total sin and not even realizing it. So he hit his knees and gave his life to Christ in a way he'd never done before. Life has been different ever since. Happiness...Joy! Travis felt he needed to actually sing his praise for God!! So, one weekend in January '06, five songs were written in a flash..like it was something he should have been doing all along and didn't know it. After a busy recording session that lasted most of February and part of March that year, an EP entitled "Introspect" came out and made an impact on the local church scene, and Travis is now contemporary worship leader at Mauldin United Methodist every Sunday.
