Although I play solo and with other projects from time to time, my primary focus now is the group effort I am most fond of... my new Mystic Groove Down Tempo project "Outlaw Dervish". This is a group I have started and direct who are playing songs from my new CD of the same title. We are also writing material together in a similar vein. Our current mob includes myself on Didjeridu and Spoken Word/Vocals, Chris "Samba" Cohn on Guitar, Dan Yockey on Bass.
For the past two years, I led the group "Pele's Tears" with Kashia, percussion and Papillon, ritual temple belly dance. We played with a long list of guest musicians, including: Gypsy-Flamenco guitarist, Estas Tonne ,
Cello and Bass Man - Ken Becker,
Rom Violinist and Vocalist- Lucia Comnes ,
Guitarist and DJ - Josh Brill,
Tabla whirlwinds - Jason Parmar and Aharon Wheels Bolsta,
Flautist - Dana Dharma Devi,
James Paulino - Bass,
Hoop Dancer - Vivian Spiral.

I grew up in Colorado, and lived all over the state, from the country to the city and on to the mountains and the desert. Following a serious disillusionment with the Alternative Rock Scene back when it broke into the Arena-Sell-Out-Phase, I moved to the Bay Area in '95 because it sounded like there was a lot going on in terms of an actual counter-culture. For something like 9 years I played Didjeridu with the self-described Trance-Fusion group Axis Mundi, doing very steeped and devotional live acoustic sets with them. After deciding to move in some fresh directions, I completed my first solo effort, "Lanterns of Midnight", which is a multi-instrumental journey featuring Didjeridu and Spoken Word. This disc was produced by Ben Leinbach, who has received some notoriety for his CD, "Spirit of Yoga" in addition to his collaborations with and production on several of Jai Uttal's projects. Ben and I have recently finished our second project together , "Outlaw Dervish" which is what I call Tribal Didj Hop - based on elements of Groove, World and Trip Hop flavors.. Over the years I have slowly realized a vision of creating music that is all at once mystical - yet accessible, poetic - yet alive. I think the road is open for spirituality to be present in music where it touches us at our deepest core and in the most beautiful and soulful ways. Some of the most spiritual music has been stuff that wouldn't readily fall into a category or wear a particular label as such. I have been touched most by music and art that render the audience into a place of wonder and awe and seek to offer that in my music and am most interested in teaming up with others who are also feeling this aspect of sound and expression. There are certain universal aspects of being alive that we all share and these are the elements that bring us together, which music so powerfully demonstrates, and it is this flavor that seeps into my spoken word and the music I am fortunate enough to be creating.
In 2008 I re-assembled a group project known as "Pele's Tears". This band has played various festivals and shows for the past few years , albeit with shifting members, including:
Sea of Dreams, Howeird Street Fair, Harmony Festival,
the Union Series at Grace Cathedral, and the Ambiotica Lounge .
The new line-up is an effort at keeping the same group on an on-going basis and we are now playing out, featuring the songs from the new CD, as "Pele's Tears with Outlaw Dervish".
