Lyrics....thats what these cats represented . Long before every emcee was concerned with metaphors and punchlines Kool Moe Dee , L.A. Sunshine and Spoonie Gee were making these a part of their rhymes and routines . In the late 70s Spoonie Gee pursued a solo career and Special K ( T la Rocks brother) joined . Dj Easy Lee held down the wheels. Most crews had a front man , or a lyrical standout....but all 3 of these kids were nice lyrically . In 1980 they dropped "At The Party" on Enjoy records and followed up with "New Rap Language"/ " Love Rap " with Spoonie Gee . The New Rap Language was a special record . As usual the T3 bought a new style to the table . The rapid delivery style that many adapted throughout the 80s ( Rakim , T la Rock , LL Cool J , Big Daddy Kane etc ) was born on this record. Later came a cover of Tanya Gardners " Heartbeat " which blew up , and was Moe Dees favorite T3 song. There was also " Body Rock " which was actually the first song to merge rock and Hip Hop - NOT Run Dmcs Rock Box . They also released " Boogie In Your Body " on Enjoy. T3 later signed to Sugarhill Records and released " Whip It " , " We Can Can " , "Action " , " Turning You On " and " Gotta Rock " - their best work ever . Gotta Rock...released in ' 85 was an attack on the new school emerging that year..." You make fresh records but you still cant rap "....proclaimed Moe Dee . There was also a show called Grafitti Rock...a sort of Hip Hop Soul Train , where Moe Dee and Special K murdered Run and Din a battle. The Moe Dee solo career was born due to the flip side of Gotta Rock which was " Turn It Up " . Moe Dees well documented solo career and battles with LL lasted for the first half of the 90s. The T3 released the lp ..." Old School Flava " on Easy Lee Records in ' 94 and they also performed on the Raiders of the lost art lp. ......legends indeed
