THE ORCHESTRA The Trekky Yuletide Orchestra is a holiday supergroup made up of 30+ musicians who believe in the spirit of the Season. The group features members of The Never, Lost in the Trees, Auxiliary House, Butterflies, Embarrassing Fruits and Vibrant Green, all bands on the Trekky Records Label, based in Chapel Hill, NC. The band is a true orchestra, incorporating violins, viola, cellos, trumpet, trombone, french horn, euphonium, flutes, saxophones, accordion and mandolin into the traditional rock band set up. TYO believes that it takes the power of many to truly convey the Spirit of Christmas.
The Orchestra is non-denominational, neither promoting of affiliating with any religion. While much of the music is "Christmas Music", the focus is on that wonderful feeling of the Holiday Season, and the concepts of brotherhood, unity, getting people presents, pretty lights and goodwill towards men and women. In general, we play for the benefit of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, which promotes awareness of the debilitating disease of MS, and raises money to cure it.
Fun fact: Yule was actually a pagan festival which was eventually moved to occur on December 25 to align with Christmas. Later, the terms became interchangable. WOW!

Nothing but goodness, love, and fun at the Cradle 2 nights ago. Sheesh, I hate sounding so grown-up serious, but being at that event can cure anything, past, present, or future.
ALLL of the hard work, planning, coordinating, communicating, ad infinitum culminated last night in the best Christmas show --no, the BEST SHOW, period-- I will see this year. You gave us a ridiculous amount of talent, in just the right morsels to keep us from growing talent-weary. Groups didn't play a lineup of their favorite hits, but instead, some of the best of aural Christmas, both old and new.
The most incredible sounds though came from you, yourselves, The Trekky Yuletide Orchestra. The richness, emotion, and depth of sound exceeded even the studio recordings. Being there, seeing it live, was the only way to experience the electricity of positive emotions coursing through us all.
On top of all that goodness, your gift to the community is surpassed by, again, donating all proceeds to National MS Society. I send wishes for you each to have the best Christmas ever.
-LOVED your show last night at Borders! I didn't intend to shoot videos, but as y'all started into the new pieces, I couldn't resist!, ...although I didn't get Jonny's inspired performance. That just means everyone can see it fresh at one of the shows up through December 19!
Did Trekky folks write the first three songs, "Christmas Like No Other", "The Best Christmas Ever", and "We Could Only See the Star"? If so, who? It's great hearing new Christmas songs, and all three of these new ones are REALLY GOOD!!!
My first real listen to you guys and I'm filled right up. A tastey Christmas pudding in May, unexpected and reminicent (I hope I spelled that right... I'm too lazy to check).
Big Jesus love to ya!
