I'm 22 years old. I've been in Austin for three years now and I'm finally getting things done with music. The album is coming alive.
I live and breathe music. I need music. I make music. I use music to connect and relate with others. I can read people by what they may listen to. My own musical tastes vary between Patty Griffin and Damien Rice to Billie Holiday, Amy Winehouse, and Joss Stone. It's easy to see why many have trouble pinpointing my special genre.
Perhaps it's a new one that will be named after me. Really though, you'll hear all sorts of things in my work. Jazz. Pop. Folk. Soul. Blues. Rock.
I grew up in and around Dallas, playing a mean Fur Elise on piano by 9. At 10 I auditioned for a part on a national tour and stage version of Barney (the purple one yes). I made it and toured around North America for two years. During that time I learned how to read music from a dancer that gave me violin lessons. I came back to Dallas and finished school, learning music theory in the process as well as picking up the guitar. A good friend pushed me to learn (Taylor Moore), as I was inspired by my blues-licking guitarist of a father.
My instrumentation in good shape, the songs came flowing. I've been growing ever since and am finally ready to truly let you listen to me.
