Trev Gibb - Tyrants & Slaves (Rainboot) Dec 7 2009
In our respectful opinion, if you miss the likes of Dennis Wilson, John Martyn, Elliot Smith and Big Star, then Trev’s songs will go some way to filling an otherwise unbridgeable void in your life. The always grounded songwriter himself is somewhat less hyperbolic about his artistry than us, but we’ll leave you to judge who’s right – ask Trev how he comes up with songs this beautiful and you’ll probably get the same humble, self-effacing response we did: “things just roll around your head and somehow come out in some regulated way... just the passage of time and experience sort of does it for you.”
Tyrants & Slaves, Trev’s captivating debut on Rainboot, provides ample evidence of his erudite song-craft and knack for coupling melodic depth with effortless, enchanting and resonant lyrical subtlety, documenting in miniature the every-day turmoil of life and love with world-weary insight. The single will be followed in 2010 by an ep and album featuring songs recorded with Dave Brewis of Field Music.
“His voice is filled with heartache and emotion” Just Gimme Indie Rock
“Bloody fantastic - Trev Gibb is sure to appeal to both the loved up and the loved out” Narc Magazine
New to the Gizeh family, after previous releases on Bella Union and Nettwerk, Trespassers William return with a new EP full of their usual chilling warmth. A sensory overload of broken, distorted soundscapes, all the while pinned back by Anna-Lynne's unmistakably haunting vocals and words.
Trespassers spent two years touring with the likes of Damien Rice, Stereolab, Explosions in the Sky and Broken Social Scene before recording their second album with Dave Fridmann (Flaming Lips/Mercury Rev/Low/MGMT etc). Anna-Lynne has also recorded guest vocals on The Chemical Brothers 'Push the Button' record.
Trespassers William will be playing at the Cluny 2 on Sunday October 4th with support from Glissando and Dot to Dots.

Hi Trev, thanks for your comment. Am really enjoying your songs, too, 'Corinna's ...' sounds great! See you sometime at the pool!(occasional poster as 'likeatrain')
Loving the vids, great tunes, and a bootiful guitar that is as well by the way man! Hope you're staying well, just spotted that you're playing in berwick on friday, I'd pop down but I'm in Newcastle to see Antony and the Johnsons!! Its the day after my last exam, would have been mint! So sorry dude. Hope you're keeping well anyway, will hopefully catch you over the summer ciao for now xx
Really enjoying the new demos Trev. 'Watching the Moon Stand Still' has a really nice, eerie Springsteen, Nabraska era feel to it which is just up my street. Again; miffed I missed your set with Dave and Pete. Offer is still there for an added guitar player.
Thanks for the add. Hope you get a chance to check the site out and see what I'm trying to achieve. If you want to take part in an interview with the site - please get in touch.
