Blues, gospel, funk, folk and soul - music that speaks from the heart, to
the heart. These are the styles Trevor grew up on, raised in a musical
family and taught piano by his mother at the age of 5. He picked up
the guitar at 8, and since then has grown to love the guitar sounds of
BB King, Buddy Guy, Albert Collins, Jimmie Vaughan and T-Bone
Walker, the soulful vocals of Otis Redding, The Holmes Brothers and Al
Green, the funky grooves of The Meters and James Brown, and the
songs of James Taylor, Keb' Mo' and Kris Kristofferson.
Currently based in Perth, Western Australia, Trevor, 27, has been
full-time musician for 5 years, fronting the Perth-born,
Singapore-based universal blues band (aka ublues), with whom he
performed at the International Blues Challenge and BB King's Club
(Memphis, USA), Buddy Guy's Legends (Chicago, USA), Byron Bay Blues
& Roots Music Festival (NSW, Australia), No Black Tie (KL, Malaysia) as
well as Blues at Bridgetown and the Perth Blues Club in Western
Australia. Other career highlights include jamming with Robben Ford
(Singapore, 2004), The Holmes Brothers (UbluesFest 2002) and with the
Enrico Crivellaro Trio, (feat. Alberto Marsico and Gio Rossi), Finis Tasby
(USA),and with Natalie Gillespie supporting Diesel aka Mark Lizotte,
and recently, performing at the inaugural Miri International Jazz
Festival (Malaysia).
Now, he fronts his own swinging' trio Mo' Candy, performs as an
acoustic solo artist and has performed with Mounty Gospel Choir
(tenor vocals/ guitar) and also with The Natalie Gillespie Band.
Trevor is also a founding member of contemporary folk-rock outfit A
Perfect Monday and its acoustic trio spin-off, Three For Monday. Since
relocating to Perth, he has performed at The Perth Blues Club, The Left
Bank, Th4e Universal Bar, Rose & Crown Hotel, Indi Bar, The Paddo, The
Leopold Hotel, The Civic Hotel, The Slug & Hare (Mandurah), Clancy's Fremantle and Benny's Fremantle.
"What an exceptional talent this young man has .His performance at the South West Blues Club was magical to witness.A true blues master." Mike Hall, President, South West Blues Club Bunbury, W.A./
"Trevor is a remarkable young man (whose) international reputation continues to grow in the US, Singapore and Australia. It is indeed rare that someone so young can display not only the skills on guitar, but the ability to harness the passion necessary to sing the blues and make it credible. His natural ability combined with a diligent attitude and work ethic ensures him a successful future. His song-writing, vocal inflections, feel, chord structures and stage presence reveal a deep understanding of the genre he has chosen."
Rick Steele, PresidentPerth Blues Club (40 years in the industry)
