| About TREZURE THE EMPRESS |

I'm still working on this page but i'm glad you stopped by.
these days i'm trying to produce my album so i can release it in February. my music is going through many motions so i don't even know what they'll call it when i'm done...but right now i gotta teach these kids about how to dance bomba and the history of sam cooke and leontyne price and antonio carlos jobim and how to sing capoiera gingas and start my new business (shush damnit!) and i gotta sell my damn house...and all i can think about is what the UK might be like and how dope it would be if i could go in July and play in a few fly spots...and my man is too about to take over the world...
I recently got over my worries about being the shit.
So, who is TreZure? I am an Empress, born of the South Bronx broken glass. I decided I would be a singer when I heard Mary's "you remind me" when I was 8. I decided I would be a writer when I heard Badu's"other side of the game" when I was 14,and about a year ago I decided I would be a producer when I was listenin to Nina Simone and Sheila E. Chaka made me realize I'm supposed to be an icon. And I taught myself how to make it happen. So that's what I'm doing. For the last year or so I've been creating an intensive curriculum on music of the African Diaspora. I've already taught them the history and performance of ringshouts, blues, freedom songs, Fela Kuti, Nina Simone, Bessie Smith, and my sweets at CPE have performed ringshouts, samba dance, cumbia dance and are currently studying the music and legacy of Sam Cooke and when I tell you these little
8-10 year old kids can SING! They sing a three part harmony on "a change gon come" like professionals and they are babies that I just started teaching in October! they just learned this in December and they are killin it! So I have two types of main stages in my life: the arenas (my goal) and the auditoriums (my weapon). I've been teaching this curriculum with full success since 2005 and intend to take it beyond Harlem to all NYC, all USA and all the world I can reach. And in a beautifully organic way, reviewing so much music that inspires me and talking with these kids about great songs helps me to be a better songwriter. Being sincere is the key. I'm seriously a teaching artist. I will always sing, record, perform, find new ways to teach about our music culture and teach. I guess its fair to say I'm building a world around myself right now, focusing in as best as possible and welcoming all the good and bull shit that comes my way. It makes me a stronger woman, a stronger writer and a stronger vocalist. I am happy I found my TreZure.
