Bio:
Since their first conception in the warped minds of Aaron Brake and Harry Clapham in the bowels of Perth college just before Christmas in 2004, Triangle Theory have changed a little. Swiftly recruiting a bass player and drummer in the shape of Tommy Wigman and Brian Robertson, the band started to put together a few songs with evening practices in the practice rooms at the college. One evening while the (still nameless) band had paused for a moment, two ragged figures burst in, telling the budding TT in no uncertain words that they wanted a band to record and that a singer had to be found in two weeks. Pausing only for a moment to explain that they where in fact audio students and not escapees from a mental institute, they left as quickly as they had first appeared.
This spurred the band into actual action and a poster was printed on some very brightly coloured paper demanding a vocalist of almost limitless talent and exuberance. To this end a young and innocent Bryce Sutherland gave Aaron a phone call. After asking if they minded tuning down a little, he said he was playing with a band in the local pub next week. Harry and Aaron swiftly agreed to go and investigate the mystery Fifer. After a rousing set of metal the guitarists were more than convinced and told Bryce that “if he wanted the job he had it already”. The rest, as they say, is history.
Over the next three years a large amount of gigs in Perth, Fife and Glasgow, as well as the recording of two demos and their debut, self-titled album (plagued by every mishap and expense in the book), the band has honed their heavy-as-a-road train groove and stage antics to perfection. Brian left after a year with the band to pursue other endeavours and was replaced by the mighty Dominic Hardy, a sticksman of such power that he breaks cymbals with alarming regularity (to say nothing of his band mates’ eardrums). The band parted ways with Aaron in June 2008 so he could focus on other projects. Bryce has since taken up lead and rhythm guitar, as well as lead vocals.
Compared to everyone from Down to a “heavy Led Zeppelin”, they draw from a huge and diverse range of influences including Rage Against The Machine, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Sunn O))) and Goatsnake. With their début album released as of 6th December 2007, the band are preparing for gigs and imminent world domination, to the detriment of all ducks. Watch this space...
