Bio:
Since their first conception in the warped minds of guitarists Aaron Brake and Harry Clapham in the bowels of Perth College, December 2004, Triangle Theory have changed little. Swiftly recruiting a bass player and drummer in the shape of Tommy Wigman and Brian Robertson, the band started to put together a few songs in the college practice rooms. One evening while the (still nameless) band had paused for a moment, two ragged figures burst in, telling the budding musicians in no uncertain words that they wanted a band to record and that a singer had to be found in two weeks. Pausing only for a moment to explain that they were audio students and not escapees from a mental institute, they left as quickly as they had first appeared.
This spurred the band into action; a poster was printed on some brightly coloured paper demanding a vocalist of almost limitless talent and exuberance. To this end a young and innocent Bryce Sutherland gave Aaron a phone call. After asking if they minded tuning their guitars down a little to accommodate his voice, he said he was playing with a band in the local pub the following week. Harry and Aaron swiftly agreed to go and investigate the mystery Fifer. After a rousing set of metal the guitarists were more than convinced and told Bryce that “if he wanted the job he had it already”. The rest, as they say, is history.
Over the next three years a large amount of gigs in Perth, Fife and Glasgow, as well as the recording of two demos and their début, self-titled album (plagued by every mishap and expense in the book), the band have honed their heavy-as-a-road train groove and stage antics to perfection. Brian left after a year with the band to pursue other endeavours and was replaced by the mighty Dominic Hardy, a sticksman of such power that he breaks cymbals with alarming regularity (to say nothing of his band mates’ eardrums). The band parted ways with Aaron in June 2008 so he could focus on other projects. Bryce has since taken up lead and rhythm guitar, as well as lead vocals.
Compared to everyone from Down to a “heavy Led Zeppelin”, they draw from a huge and diverse range of influences including Rage Against The Machine, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Sunn O))) and Goatsnake. With their début album released as of 6th December 2007, the band are preparing for gigs and imminent world domination, to the detriment of all ducks. Watch this space...
"Triangle Theory can pull off some terrific songs..." - Metal Archives
"Triangle Theory are a band who can be quite dark but always grimy and sludgy... their new self titled album is a real winner." - Deathdoom Forums
"All of you are young, but you really can't tell that most of the time. You have the musical foundation, the experience, the skills - but above all, you have the passion. It's so nice to hear music - metal - and especially doom, that sounds so honest. I believe your every note..." - ROCKTIMES ....
Meticulously crafted and uttely expansive, "A New Constellation" combines the best cross sections of Prog-Rock and Jazz infused Art-Metal with a healthy dose of Doom oriented melancholy.
Doom will never die, DOOMRAISER too! As one door closes, another opens. Valerio has decided to leave the band; he wants to concentrate more on his other projects. We all wish Valerio the best of luck with his new vocation. He was, and remains, a formidable guitarist and was an integral part of DOOMRAISER. However, it is with great pleasure that DOOMRAISER announce that Valerio’s replacement is to be none other than our good friend and brother, the fearsomely talented musician Willer. He played bass with evil blacksters Grimness and he’s involved in Black Land, an awesome and obscure heavy psychedelic band from Rome. Practices have been going very well, and Willer is already adding a new, acid and exciting dimension to the band as a whole. His first gig will be at Sinister Noise Club in Rome on the 21th November: a special and drunken night celebrating the birthday of one of the most important Italian underground rock scene club! Stay tuned… and slower, harder, drunker!
MONOTONIX Saturday 28th November Nice n Sleazys, Glasgow
The release of their new album tops off a whirlwind year of touring, the infamy surrounding their charged live perfomances steadily mounting. Rightly so, check out this youtube link- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XmEHu-QAgNE&feature=related - and marvel at one of the typically unpredictable gigs of the band that Spin have declared the "most exciting live band in rock'n'roll."
