Fusion Workshop - Sat 16th May..

I will be teaching a 2 hour Tribal Fusion workshop 1200 - 1400 on Sat 16th May 2009 in Central London. As this is the irt workshop of the year I will be charging just £15 for the full 2 hours.

< I have secured space at The Drill Hall in a fantastic mirrored studio Near Tottenham Court Road in Central London. The class will be 2 hours of tribal fusion, workshop details to be confirmed shortly. All levels welcome, you can pre-book by paypal via my website www.darkstardance.co.uk

The class will be limited to 20 spaces to allow everyone to get as much out of it as possible. Whilst I will accept cash on the door, I would prefer cheque or paypal payment in advance.

Biography

Kerry is first and foremost a tribal fusion and dark fusion solo artist. This is a brief history on how she got there.

In 2004 Kerry began taking Egyptian belly dance classes with a number of teachers. Shortly after she discovered tribal style belly dance and realised that this was the style she wanted to pursue.

Kerry moved on to performing American Tribal Style (ATS) as a member of Luma Tribal Belly Dance, a London based dance troupe for 3 years. In October 2008 Kerry gained her general skills certificate in Fat Chance Belly Dance format in Glastonbury with Carolina and Mega.

Along with her ATS Kerry also studied hard with well know fusion dancers such as Ariellah, Sam Hasthorpe, Sharon Kihara and Kami Liddle to name but a few, Kerry began to focus attention on performing as a solo artiste and decided in January 2008 to focus solely on this. Kerry now performs under the title of Darkstar.

Specialising in tribal fusion and dark fusion she has performed extensively winning rave reviews for her individual style, choreography and costuming. She is a resident dancer for ‘Firewater’ London’s foremost tribal belly dance show and in Jan 2009 was asked to perform for the launch party of ‘Tribal London’

Her dance style is currently influenced by the Indigo, Ariellah, Zoe Jakes, Kami Liddle and Sam Hasthorpe. She has a strong stage presence incorporating locks, pops, ticking and travelling steps to give a dramatic visual impact. The unique style Kerry has developed engages her audience bringing originality and drama to the stage. Music is of course very important and Kerry dances to a variety from fusion bands such as Beats Antique, Amon Tobin and Pentaphobe to Balkan and gypsy punk bands, Man Man and Gogal Bordello and darker music such as Nine inch nails and Marylin Manson.

Kerry loves dancing and has the ability to adapt her style and technique to each event. She creates unique choreographed pieces and is also happy improvising, especially with live music. She hopes to continue to develop through further study and performance.
