HISTORY

Jerry Kandiah came to England from the Cayman Islands where he met Hedge Seel and later formed the melodic death-metal outfit Necromonica. After several years touring across London’s underground venues and a session on BBC Radio 1’s Rock Show, the band’s interests turned to warehouse squat parties and outdoor raves. Kandiah then formed Arkatek with the Necromonica guitarist and churned out acid techno tunes on their own label, Skyride Records as well as others including Stay Up Forever and Cluster.

The TRIBAZIK trio was born in London in early 2004 with the enforcement of Paris-born composer Blaise Merino. After hearing a demo, bassist Paul Raven RIP invited the band to support Killing Joke on two European tours following the release of their seminal album Hosannas from the Basements of Hell. TRIBAZIK returned to the studio in 2007 to record their debut album All Blood is Red (a title inspired by a conversation with a Hindu guru on a trip to the temples of Southern India). Lyrically, All Blood is Red is an exploration of government conspiracies and life beyond the physical realm. Jaz Coleman added his own vocal injection to the once instrumental track Molten. (The accompanying music video is set for release in late 2009). Having mixed the album with Andy Gill, Merino returned to France to pursue his interests in fine art.

Syan joined TRIBAZIK in early 2009. Italian and English of origin, Syan is no stranger to the camera having modelled for various editorial campaigns both in New York and London. Her previous band Interlock released their critically acclaimed album Crisis//reinvention through Anticulture Records in 2004. Endorsed by Warwick, her weapon of choice is a Corvette $$ (5-string).

Inspired by an eclectic taste in music (industrial, experimental, electro, techno, thrash and roots), TRIBAZIK’s aim is to create an energetic, solid sound combining organic drums and bass and heavy guitar with contemporary electronic sounds and effects- bridging the gap between metal and electro/dance. All samples are played LIVE  (triggered from pads around the drum kit) and include vocal chants, acid lines, industrial thuds, caustic pulses and sirens. These, accompanied by freestyle bass, heavy groove/melodic guitar and manic drums, create the high-energy idiosyncratic TRIBAZIK sound.
