About me: Welcome to TRIBE! Tribe is a group for "Heebs who want to Hang". While the majority of members are single Tribe is not limited to only singles we encourage couples to attend events as well. Anyone over 21 and under 35 is invited to come party. Two years ago a group of my good friends and I were sitting at a bar having a few drinks when Tribe was born. Through word of mouth, myspace and the support of Jewish News Tribe has grown from 70 members to almost 700. We primarily do an event at a bar once a month and try and do a community service event every few months. Most events average an attendance of 100-150 people and we are hoping to grow larger each year. Tribe will be celebrating two years of success on Valentines Day 2008.If your looking to make new friends, find a roommate, a potential business associate, a date or a future spouse you got nothing to lose so come check out an event! For more information feel free to contact Alyssa you can reach me on this site or email me at tribeaz@gmail.com. We are also on facebook under Tribe Arizona.

IT'S IN THE GENES: WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT JEWISH GENETIC DISEASES
Wednesday Feb. 20 at 7 p.m. at the Ina Levine Jewish Community Campus in Scottsdale
Volunteers are needed to register guests as they arrive at 6:30 p.m. that evening
About the event---- It's easy to think of a genetic disease as "something that happens to other people"...or something to worry about only when you get pregnant. For Jewish families of Ashkenazi (Eastern European) descent, however, the risk is very real and very immediate. Tay-Sachs Disease and other Jewish genetic diseases remain a serious concern in our community.
The keynote speaker will be Lois Victor, founder of the Victors Centers in Philadelphia , Boston and Miami . Both of her daughters were born with and died from Familial Dysautonomia (FD), a Jewish genetic disease that leads to a lifetime of suffering and early death. From this tragedy, the Victor Centers were created to educate, screen and provide genetic counseling to young adults prior to having children.
Dr. Kirk Aleck and Dr. Ann Bogle will speak on genetic diseases and genetic counseling. Aaron Scholar, executive director of the Bureau of Jewish Education, will address the Jewish ethical perspective on genetic screening. The event will be held in the Assembly Room of the Ina Levine Jewish Community Campus. There is no fee to attend. Reservations are suggested. For more information or to RSVP for the program, contact info@jewishgeneticsphx.org .. or (480)668-3347.
