Me (known in the belly dance community as Kawakib). This music is for you bellydance artists - Tribal Fusion, ATS, Group Improv, Interpretive... Forget record companies and lawyers. Use my music for your performances or teaching your belly dance classes; just link to my page here or at CDBaby.com and credit me when you can. SPREAD THE WORD! If you use it on your MySpace page or in performance videos let me know so I can link back to you. For performance, hardcopy CD's are better sound quality than downloads!
Official Bio:
Anthea Poole (Kawakib), classically trained from age 8, records under the name Tribe O. She grew up playing piano, learning her church’s pipe organ as a teen, then playing bass guitar for various local bands in her twenties. She credits the pipe organ foot pedals for her love of skull-rattling low notes, and her classical training for the baroque style that often peeks out under her melodies. An infinite cosmic view of life adds an “orbital” feel (KAWAKIB is Arabic for “planets”).
Tribe O music is rhythm-driven belly-funk with a space-goth edge perfect for tribal fusion or group improv bellydance. In "Now To The Sky" Kawakib combines her classical music training, feel for dance rhythms, and driving bass lines into belly dance electronica. The tracks vary in mood and style, starting with “Emergence”s’ dark insistence, to the retro Southern soul of “Tailspin”, through “Sunfall”’s happy disco ride, and closing with the ascendant trance of “Dream Spinner”.
Harmonic, rhythm-driven melodies, with simple top lines, rich undercurrents... rhythmic elements of funk, belly dance, dub reggae, combine baroque styling with a future feel.
