Tribute to Steel présente une revue heavy metal des années 80 à aujourd’hui. Le projet a été créé en automne 2006 lorsque 5 musiciens expérimentés de la ville de Québec se réunirent pour créer un groupe hommage à leur style musical préféré : le metal. Le talent des musiciens et les aptitudes vocales démesurées du chanteur permettent à cette formation de vous en mettre plein la vue avec un spectacle diversifié. En alliant virtuosité et mélodie avec brio, Tribute to Steel vous livrent aussi bien les grands succès de groupes tels Iron Maiden, Metallica, et Ozzy Osbourne, que le matériel original et saisissant des formations phares du heavy metal européen comme Helloween, Yngwie Malmsteen ou encore Stratovarius. Ayant roulé sa bosse autant dans les bars et les festivals que dans les grandes salles de spectacles, Tribute to Steel vous promet une performance explosive, où la qualité d’interprétation des pièces n’a d’égal que l’énergie et la présence scénique du groupe!
The story started in 2003, when Sylvain (bass) and Frank (drums) were searching for musicians to play with. Eric, the singer, decided to join them because he had a lot of musical influences in common with these guys. In January 2004, 2 guitarists joined the band: Steve (rhythm guitar) and Marc-André (lead guitar). At this time, the project consisted of a heavy metal / hard rock tribute. They decided to call it MINDFIELD. They were playing bands like Iron Maiden, Metallica, Ozzy Osbourne, AC/DC, Scorpions… etc.
They rapidly started to do some gigs in bars of Québec city. It worked very well for a year and a half. But in may 2005, Mindfield splitted off with Marc-André. They hired another lead guitarist in June: Luc Parent. It worked well for a few weeks, but there was too much tension in the band at that time so they splitted off with Luc in late October. After a few auditions, they hired Yannick Tremblay as the new lead guitarist in december, and that was an excellent decision because he is an outstanding guitarist. The band did a couple of shows with this line-up, and they evoluated in a heavier way as they began to put away some of the hard rock stuff to introduce bands like Pantera, Megadeth and Yngwie Malmsteen in the setlist. Unfortunately, Eric left in May 2006 because he began to feel awkward with the evolution of the musical genre. There was also some tension between him and Frank at this time. It was probably the best for him to leave, as he rapidly found other musicians who were searching for a singer to complete their rock/metal tribute called Overdrive. He is actually very happy with these guys. In the few next months, Frank and Steve also had to left Mindfield because they found jobs outside Quebec city. It was then a hard time for the band, because they just found ourselves only two members: Sylvain and Yannick.
They began to search for some new musicians in September. They had the chance to discover Damian Leif Thörson a few weeks later. He is a very talented and experienced vocalist, since he has song for a lot of cover bands (like Iron Maiden and Metallica tribute band) for the last 20 years. He is also the singer and keyboardist for the power metal band Ice Vinland. This group has just released its second album, Vinland Saga, in 2007. When Sylvain and Yannick met him, he was also playing with other musicians in the heavy metal tribute band called Tribute to Steel. For some reasons, Damian Leif decided to leave these guys to play with Sylvain and Yannick in Mindfield. A couple of weeks later, they found a drummer, Patrick Andrews, and another lead guitarist, Danny Gagnon. These guys are great musicians, and the chemistry between them was there at the very beginning. Finally, the band decided to keep the name TRIBUTE TO STEEL. This decision was taken because first, it better represents the idea of doing a heavy metal tribute than Mindfield, and second because this original name was a proposition of Damian Leif Thörson when he was playing with the other musicians.

hey! we are trying to change something... our new singer erik can't be a full member of dreamscape because the stess to travel a lot is affecting his health. so we decided to work with more than one singer - honestly we will work with even more than two... hopefully you will like that idea! we like it a lot because we will be very flexible and our sound will become even more complex! kind regards!
