All in all, a massive-sounding band!
TRIGGER are a 6-piece original outfit based in the West Midlands, who play melodic yet heavy stadium rock, blending crushing guitar riffs with huge harmonies and anthemic choruses. Our influences include Guns N Roses, Bon Jovi, Queen, AC/DC, or just about any of the classic stadium rock acts!
TRIGGER were formed in 2003 by slightly eccentric husband-and-wife Dan & Sally Trigger, and the current line-up is completed by brothers Chris Hingley (guitar) and Greg Hingley (drums), along with bassist Adam Bennett and keyboard player Matt Wharton.
Interestingly, Dan’s surname “Trigger” is in fact his real name, the name that appears on his birth certificate – we only bring this up, as some have suspected that we have adopted that name purely as a rocking moniker!
Since forming, TRIGGER have recorded 4 albums; “Call To Arms” (2005), “Fight The Machine” (2006), “Dawn Of A New Knight” (2007), and our most recent work “Furious Times” (2009).
Our new album “Furious Times” was entirely recorded at home, with no professional studios or engineers being used to enhance the sound. On the plus side, this gave us total control over the hefty sound we wanted, but on the downside, producers Dan and Adam were non-smokers when recording began, but are now both 65-a-day men.
TRIGGER have become a regular draw on the Midlands live circuit, where we gig relentlessly despite having work & college commitments. We try to make even our small pub shows as spectacular as possible, and have invested in lighting rigs, laser lights and smoke machines, much to the amusement/horror of the landlords.
TRIGGER occasionally hire local theatres where we can put on a full-scale stadium rock show, and this is where the band is most at home. As far as we know, we are the only band that has constructed a 3-metre tall paper mache skull to hang over the stage, and also a 4-metre high Stonehenge replica as a stage set, which works nicely alongside the projection images and pyrotechnics. Our philosophy is that there should be nothing subtle or understated about a rock show, and our audiences certainly don’t forget ours in a hurry!
Other successes that TRIGGER have enjoyed include having a song used in a film, appearing on Virgin radio, having previous albums reviewed in “Classic Rock” and “ Rhythm” magazines, being the first band to sell out the Bromsgrove Artrix Theatre, and being requested by Bromsgrove District Council to perform at the town’s annual fireworks display to an audience of 22,000.
