About me:
Bio

Frank Dirscherl was born in 1973 and has been working as a librarian since 1992. As well as being a writer, he is also a comic book lecturer, amateur history buff and publisher of Trinity Comics, where he writes the multi-Ledger nominated The Wraith comic book series.

His written works include The Wraith (filmed in 2005), Valley of Evil, Cult of the Damned (due in 2008), Deadly Owl (due in 2008), the Lance Star - Sky Ranger anthology, the non-fiction The Wraith: Eyes of Judgment - The Official Script Book & Movie Guide and the screenplay to The Wraith: Eyes of Judgment short film. He’s also contributed to a variety of pulp anthologies and edited a non-fiction book on independent filmmaking.

The Wraith

The Wraith is a mix of classic 1970s/early 1980s comic book storytelling (think the runs on Batman by the likes of Dennis O'Neil, Frank Robbins, Neal Adams, Steve Englehart, Marshall Rogers, Gerry Conway, Don Newton, Irv Novick, Gene Colan et al) and such pulp magazines as The Shadow and, particularly, The Spider. The art, superbly crafted by the likes of Roland Bird, Jeff Welborn, Blake Wilkie and others, is influenced by those eras of comics, and we're proud to be presenting comics that some consider "retro", but what we here at Trinity consider simply quality stories. The writing is, again, a mix of that era of comic book and the exciting melodrama of the pulps. The Spider fought villains that were a mix of the mundane (ie. crime-lords, robbers, murderers etc.) and the fantastic (eg. creatures, invaders, conquerors, mad scientists etc.), and we're following that path with The Wraith, albeit in a modern setting. Combined with a healthy dollop of intrigue, mystery, romance and, at times, current events, we feel The Wraith has something for everyone.

I created The Wraith back in 1998 as my homage to those classic pulp novel characters the Shadow and the Spider. Originally intended to feature in a novel, the character bounced around in my head until 2001 when his original look was fully realised by an artist friend. Then, in 2002, the character's second look was readied, and The Wraith series was born in April 2004 with the publication of The Wraith #0 comic book. The Wraith's final look was revealed on The Wraith's Lair website in 2004, in The Wraith: Eyes of Judgment film in 2005, on book covers and posters, and in The Wraith #1, which premiered in April 2007. Two comic books are currently available in the series, with more to follow. You can purchase both The Wraith #0 and The Wraith #1 in print forms by clicking the relevant aforementioned links. The Wraith #0 can also be downloaded for FREE from WOWIO right now. Please click the below link to do just that:

And here are some handy Amazon links to purchase my books (novels, short stories, non-fiction). All my work, including comic books, can also be purchased here:

- The Wraith paperback novel.
- Valley of Evil hardcover novel.
- Valley of Evil paperback novel.
- The Wraith: Eyes of Judgment - The Official Script Book & Movie Guide non-fiction paperback.

And you can buy issues in The Wraith comic book series here.

WRITER'S CRAMP

Whak!
Snap!
Crack after crack.
My fingers fold down
My knuckles break back.
The bones in my hand
Are under attack.

The pain hits me quick
On the side of my wrist
And the throbbing is constant
It’s making me sick
From this powerful blow
That has crippled my fist.

It’s crooked and swollen
I can’t take it back
‘Cause the damage is done-I just broke my hand!

The X-rays have shown
The brake in my bone.
The doctor sits down and sighs.
And it doesn’t look good
When he’s staring at me
With an emptiness deep in his eyes.

“Your hand is in pieces,” he begins to explain,
“It’s shattered,
It’s battered
It cannot be saved!”

“So what do I do?
What do I do?
Can you fix it?
Can you heal it?
Can you mend it?
Can you?”

Well here are your options,”
The doc says to me,
“We can pin it
Cast it.
Then let it be.
In a year or two
It might work for you
But we will not know
Until the waiting is through.

Your second option is to replace your bones
With knuckles and fingers
That are not your own.

I can surgically insert cadaver bones
From a donor, who passed away not long ago.
I can take out your tendons
And ligaments too
And construct a new hand that will work for you. . . . . . . .

Good Morning.

It's a rainy Saturday here. Hannah just arrived and it looks like we're going to get some much needed rain (all day).

I'm almost done with edits for A Demon Awaits and I'm taking a couple days off before reading it one last time.

Have a great one,
CJ
