Magdaliz Roura (Voice/ Guitar) Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico. From an early age, Miss Roura showed a talent for music by singing, playing instruments by ear, and improvising. Growing up she played the piano, the guitar, and sang in family gatherings and in many school activities earning numerous awards. She is a former member of the Concert Choir of the University of Puerto Rico (1992-94), the Symphonic Choir of Puerto Rico (1992-94); Temple University Concert Choir (1994-95), and the Temple University Choral (1995-96). She also participated in the Latin-American Choir's Festival in Caracas, Venezuela (1993), and the Maestro Helmuth Rillin's Master Class (1996 & 1997). Over the last 15 years she has been living, studying, performing, and working in Philadelphia as a Music Therapist; Music Teacher; Spanish Teacher and Tutor; Musician and Singer; Salsa Dancer, Singer; Spanish/English translator and interpreter; and Recreational Therapist. As a Philadelphia resident, she has performed with several musical ensembles and co-founded others like the Areito Salsa Band (2001-05) and the Quartet Bembé (2005-07). She also performs as a soloist and with other ensembles in the Tri-State area. Magdaliz is one of the founders of Trio Crisol (1997-present) where she sings, plays percussion and the guitar. In 2001, she recorded her first CD “Canciones del Nuevo Mundo/ Songs from the New World” with her Trio Crisol. Magdaliz received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Puerto Rico in 1993 and is currently seeking a Masters of Music in Music Therapy at Drexel University/ MCP-Hahnemann University while working as the Director of the Department of Therapeutic Recreation in a Nursing Home. Currently Magdaliz is seeking to take her performing career to the next level. She seeks to record another CD and perform on a regular basis in different venues and festivals around the US and the world.

Raquel Diaz-Lansac (violin/ voice) holds a Bachelor’s of Music Degree from the “Conservatorio Superior” of Bilbao (Spain) and a Graduate Performer Diploma in Violin Performance from Indiana University Bloomington School of Music. She was a member of the Latin American Popular Music Ensemble at IU. She performs different styles of music such a classical, tango, and a variety of Latin American styles. She is a certified Suzuki violin instructor and has been teaching since 1988, both in her native Spain and in the USA. Currently she is completing her Masters degree in Music Therapy at Temple University. Raquel has been performing with Magdaliz and her Trio Crisol since 2008.,
Fernando Valencia (percusión/ voice) the former principal percussionist of The National Wind Symphony of Colombia. He has performed with the Symphony Youth Orchestra of Colombia, The Bogota Philharmonic, The North Arkansas Symphony and The Fort Smith Symphony Orchestras. Mr. Valencia received his B.M. from the Universidad Javeriana (Bogota-Colombia) and his M.M. from The University of Arkansas. Later he went to Temple University to complete the Professional Certificate of studies. Mr. Valencia has been involved in the performance and research of his Afro-Colombian musical roots and Afro-Caribbean music, with further academic studies in Colombia and the “Instituto Superior de Artes” in Habana-Cuba. Fernando Valencia is currently a freelance percussionist in the Philadelphia-N.Y. area, and a percussion instructor for the AMLA School of Arts (Philadelphia, PA). Fernando has been performing with Magdaliz and her Trio Crisol since 2007.,

Crisol, Spanish for melting pot, founded in 1997 by Magdaliz Roura and Robin Moore, is an ensemble that has been performing in the Philadelphia and Tri-State area for the last 12 years. This group is dedicated to the interpretation of a variety of folk and traditional music genres from Puerto Rico, Cuba, Mexico, Venezuela, Colombia, and other parts of Latin America.
