Formerly known as "Electric Kool-aid", Triptothane was originally formed in early 1990 by founding members Phillip Cuttino(bass) & J Cooper(guitar). Rounded out by Steve Shain(Drums) and the vocal stylings of the ever eccliectic & uppredictable Andy Z (vocals & lyrics). The band shared a wide range of influences from heavy metal powerhouse legendaries such as Metallica, Black Sabbath & Slayer, 70's funk sounds of Parliament Funkadelic, classic jazz along with the punk & new wave sounds of the early 80's mixed with alternative pioneers like Jane's Addiction & The Red Hot Chili Peppers, NIN, Danzig, Ministry & others to create a powerful new sound in the early 90's that later became a music genre unto itself known as "funk metal". The band later evolved it's sound to incorporate a heavier range of influences from newer bands such as Soundgarden, Rollins Band & others to create songs from teir debut CD released in 1993- TRiptothane.
