Ella Fitzgerald, George Benson, Karrin Allyson, Herbie Hancock, Jane Monheit, Flora Purim, Anita Baker, Chaka Khan, Natalie Cole, Kristin Chenoweth, Miles Davis, Duke Ellington, Art Tatum, Oscar Peterson, Ramsey Lewis, Wayne Shorter, Motown, Lonnie Smith, Beatles, Jill Scott, Stevie Wonder. I really dig soul jazz; Stanley Turrentine, Lou Donaldson, Horace Silver, ... above mentioned Ramsey Lewis and Lonnie Smith. I could listen to that all day.
Trish is no stranger to a stage and has been performing professionally in musicals since the age of 11 and the private party and club scene since the age of 14. She has also been supporting her own career and education since the age of 12.
Trish has a BMA in vocal performance from Oakland University with a strong emphasis in both jazz studies and classical voice with a music education core curriculum. Trish is sought after for her ability to be what the Michigan Opera Theatre Department of Community Programs considers a multi-genre vocalist and style master. She is one of Clinton Township’s most prominent vocal music educators and has successfully created some of the Metro Detroit areas most promising young talents, including Miss Michigan 2000, CheVonne Burton.
Besides singing classical music, she can often be seen and heard singing a variety of musical styles with a chameleon-like approach. She has been recognized by her colleagues as one of the most versatile vocalists in Metro Detroit. She is a 25-year performance veteran and has graced many local stages and also venues in Las Vegas, Atlantic City, Orlando, Los Angeles, Lake Tahoe, New York City, Chicago, Toronto, Tokyo and various cruise lines as a voice impressionist.
In 2004, Trish competed in over a dozen Opera competitions with thousands of young classical singers, in which she made it to semi-final or final rounds. She was honored by Oakland University as the Outstanding Student in Jazz Performance and she was a featured vocalist on the Cable television program, “Time out for Opera” with Jonathan Swift, sponsored by the Michigan Opera Theatre.
Trish is an Artist-in-Residence with the Michigan Opera Theatre Touring Company and tours children’s operas to schools all over Michigan, the mid-west, and Canada. Trish is a member of the voice team at the Michigan Opera Theatre and runs her own private voice studio VOICE 911 ™. On top of the many hats she wears, she still performs locally and travels to perform across the United States. Trish was a nominee for two Detroit Music Awards for 2008 in classical and jazz voice categories. She won the DMA for Outstanding Classical Vocalist.
In the Detroit area, Trish can also be seen on occasion singing with Detroit’s finest musicians such as, Scott Gwinnell Jazz Orchestra, Royal Garden Trio, Colton Weatherston, Mike Karoub, & the legendary James Dapogny.
