    TROLDHAUGEN was formed in early 2008 when Reventüsk (Vocals, Acoustic Guitars, Jew’s Harp) and Meldengar (Electric Guitar) began collaborating on a project that would combine their interest and passion of traditional European folk music with Black Metal. They quickly wrote and recorded a three track demo showcasing their unique brand of conglomerated folk metal, followed later in the year by the 9 minute epic “By the Blade of Our Sword”. A video clip was recorded for the release which garnered much attention and a small but dedicated following urging Reventüsk and Meldengar to assemble a full band. Once a band was formed consisting of other local talents interested in pursuing an Australian brand of folk metal they set their minds on recording a debut album, to be titled “Lore of the Hallowed Grove”. TROLDHAUGEN performed their first live show in Sydney at the “Under the Southern Cross II” metal festival in January 2010 which introduced the bands inimitable sound and high energy live performance to an even wider audience of people. Although “Lore of the Hallowed Grove” was almost finished, after a 7-month hiatus the band decided the music was no longer representative of where TROLDHAUGEN was at that time. Through the process of collaborating with the 4 new members of the group, Reventüsk and Meldengar found that they were introducing new elements of thrash, power and battle metal to existing folk and black metal ideas. This combined into Troldhaugen’s own distinctive sound and style which the band exhibits not only in their live performance but in their Debut EP which they have written, recorded and produced independently. ..
