OH YOU GORGEOUS TROPHY WIVES, YOU: a mini-bio
Catchy enough to be pop-punk (a la Descendents, Queers, Lillingtons) but nihilistic and irreverent like The Dead Boys, Turbonegro or early Supersuckers, Atlanta's Trophy Wives are a rarity in a punk scene dominated by self-consciously retro and campy garage bands and self-consciously emotional and screechy "hardcore" and emo bands. The Trophy Wives aren't overtly political (although a quick scan of some of their song titles show they don't care too much for right-wing rednecks). They're not gimmicky (though drummer Will Brown has occasionally donned a sailor's uniform onstage while drunk). They're not cute, sensitive, ironic, or geek-chic. Leave that to the college radio darlings. The Trophy Wives are content to kick-out the 3-chord jams with volume and hooks to spare. Bonus style points: Every member is college-educated and cavity-free (...I think).
