Troupe O-Wa’s philosophy, as stated by its founder and director Mogra, is that of being a Tribe whose mission is to bring joy to each other and the community as a whole. We are a community oriented group and have participated in different events including benefits for Safeplace, Stonewall Youth, and Olympia Little Theater. We have also participated in other local events such as Olympia ArtWalk, the Illuminated Ball, Procession of the Species, Ethnic Celebration, The Diversity Celebration and Capital City Pride. Our style is a fusion of a variety of elements: our music selections focus on traditional pieces from exotic lands spanning the Mediterranean from Spain to India as well as modern beats. We also enjoy performing to the beat of live drumming provided by the super talented musicians from The Loping Camel, a very own local Drumm Trio. Our Belly Dance choreographies are family friendly, suitable for every occasion. Troupe O-Wa is fun, earthy, mysterious and sassy. Troupe O-Wa is Middle Eastern Dances with a modern touch.
