| About Trowse Festival |
|
Although planned for 14 June 2008 unfortunately due to circumstances beyond our control this years T-fest has had to be cancelled. We want to thank everyone that has been involved in the planning of the festival and all the bands and artists that were committed to taking part. We hope to see you next year. The Trowsers.............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
Trowse Festival started in 2004. Its a free festival for families and friends to come along and enjoy great music on the common.
This year there will be 2 stages featuring original music performed by singer songwriters and bands.
The Big Note www.myspace.com/bignotelondon will feature acoustic music and bands from Norfolk and indeed across the UK (previous acts have included Lach -the anti folk legend from NYC- and Newton Faulkner as well as a fine array of other talent). Big Note are London based promoters showcasing the best of new talent.
The Other stage will feature under 18's only and is bieng run by The Great Leap Forward - a Norwich based organisation that concentrates ..ing young talent to develop and regularly stages live shows in Norwich www.myspace.com/tglf......................................................ALSO...........................Not only the main stages on the common but there are kids workshops. Including a circus skills workshop at mid day and craft workshops throughout the day. Plus art and acoustic recitals in the Manor Rooms from 11-4 pm, tea cakes and cross stitch in Trowse's beautiful St Andrews Church, face painting, adult and kids football, a dog show at 2 pm (bring your own dog!) also there will be a variety of stands and stalls for your perusal including Future Radio www.futureradio.co.uk .............................................................................
HOW TO GET TO TROWSE (OFFICIALLY CALLED 'TROWSE NEWTON') ...............................................
By foot/bicycle/donkey/bus........................................
Trowse is just outside the South side of Norwich, some 15 minutes walk from the main Norwich train station and the city centre. It is also on the 58/58a bus routes. There is a cycle route all the way from the city centre to Trowse. If you get lost, local landmarks are a large dull grey building looking like a disused lego brick (County Hall, the Council's HQ) or the great Norwich City Football Club......................................
By car..................................................
From the South: Come up the A11 until you reach the A47 Southern Bypass. Head towards Great Yarmouth on the A47 and then take the second exit, A146 towards Norwich (signposted football ground/Trowse). Turn left at the end of the slip road then right at the lights at the end of the dual carriageway. At the roundabout turn right and over the bridge into Trowse
From East or West on the A47: take the A146 exit towards Norwich/Trowse then as above.
From the North/Norwich City Centre: follow road towards A146 (Lowestoft) then pick up the signs towards Trowse. At a roundabout when you seem to be in the wrong lane to turn right, turn left into Trowse.
By boat/canoe/hovercraft.................................................
There is a navigable stretch of water from the River Yare, but better to tie up at the Norfolk Canoe Club and stretch your legs. There is a riverboat too from Norwich which is, well, interesting.......................
By air.............................................
Best fly to Norwich International Airport, hop in a taxi and ask for Trowse. Although helicopters have been known to land in emergencies on the village common , it is not recommended if you are just popping in to the White Horse...................................................
