Now calling Portland, Oregon home, Troy Richmond Dixon has been writing, recording and performing his inspiring brand of alt-country music on the west coast for the last 12 years.
Leaving college in Michigan to start the drafts on what was then a book of poetry, Troy worked and traveled throughout the west for two years, eventually settling in Ventura, California. It was in Ventura where Troy met songwriter and guitarist Jonathan Raffetto and started the writing collaboration, along with guitarist Stuart Orlinsky, that soon evolved into the folkie underground favorites Southern Cross.
Troy has performed over 1000 shows, from intimate coffee shops to large theaters and festivals, bringing an infectious mix of voice, words and guitar that combine for a passionate and unforgettable live experience. Moving easily between stark introspection and unbridled hope, Troy's songwriting blends the influences of country, rock, folk and soul in a style that is uniquely his own.
Having written over 300 songs, Troy is currently recording his third studio CD "the devil you know" at Vault Recording Studio in Portland, Oregon. Due for release in late summer, this new collection of all original music features some of the best musicians in Portland, including violinist Eddie Parente, saxaphonist Michael York, pedal steel virtuoso Tucker Jackson and Chapman Swifts drummer Darren Dixon.
