About me:
I left school when I was 14 and eventually met Andre Bazin, who helped me immensely. In '53 I published my first critique in Les Cahiers du Cinema (I think it was of an old print of Chaplin's "Modern Times" shown at a film club), where I wrote for some time with other cinematic luminaries such as Jean-Luc Godard and Alain Resnais. After a while I figured I should probably make some films of my own, so I did. The most notable of them would probably be 'Les Quatre Cent Coups' and 'Jules et Jim'.
