Music, reading, art - I draw & paint (currently working on a piece - acrylic); not just the one small black line and a big red circle on a canvas the size of Montana that only sells for $10k 'cause of the name more than the talent; but I cover the canvas :) Sports - yes, I said sports ~ I am a fan of the greatest sport on earth; HOCKEY - GO CAPS!!!
And come on, if ya haven't seen this - Knob Hockey RULES.. I'M JARKO RUUTU!!!!!...
I watch all sports, even golf. I have learned to appreciate just how freakin' skilled those guys are!! The greater the contact, the more I like it. Boxing - not heavyweights, they don't punch enough; old UFC (before the rules)MMA stuff; rugby. I like me some football - american & soccer; and I can watch college hoops (I can't stand to watch the NBA because the players lost the passion to play when they got paid). ..
Music
I love it... LOVE music; metal being my absolute fave but have a TON of CDs... 95% of them are hard rock ~ my current faves/ heavily played bands - Kamelot, Pagan's Mind, Circus Maximus and HEED... My iPod is 99% Metal - it gets me thru the workday...
I like REAL singers ~ range, don't growl; we can't understand a word your saying and lyrics should say SOMETHING... Geoff Tate, Midnight, Roy Khan, Michael Eriksen, Daniel Heiman, Nils K. Rue and Tobias Sammet are my all time fave singers - if you don't know who they are - you should; amazing is too small a word for ANY of them... I own every style of music but rap ~ it's too negative, and the 'c' is missing from the beginning - "c"rap.....
Movies
If I had to watch three movies for the rest of my life ~ Phantom of the Opera (the new one), Moulin Rouge and 300.. I love movies; all kinds but certain ones I love get watched over and over and over again... I've rediscovered just how great it is to see a movie in the theater and I think that's kind of lost to society a bit... (watching 300 on my tv just isn't the same as seeing it as much as I did on a big screen... ::sigh::) And yet I cannot forget the childhood classics that STILL RULE - The Sandlot, Princess Bride, Labyrinth; hell anything Jim Henson touched was GENIUS..... and the much forgotten Monster Squad (wolfman's got nards!!)
Television
THE NHL NETWORK - it is the GREATEST 24/7 channel cable has ever shown... come on - hockey every day all day... There's nothing like breakfast, that first cup of tea for the day while watching all the scoring and fight highlights from the previous evening's games!!
FAMILY GUY!!!!! I LOVE Stewie & Brian!!!!
Reno 911... I'm also a HUGE fan of Moonlight (CBS pissed me off canceling that) , Ghost Hunters on SciFi... LOVE the History Channel(s), Discovery Channel(s), BBC America, A&E true crime shows ~ TV to learn from... interest me... Oh and if hockey is on, well that's what I'm watching.....
Books
yep I've got 'em... tons of 'em... and I read 'em too... some more than once... We'll be here all day if I really start getting detailed on this subject.. hehehe But I would highly recommend the Anita Blake Vampire Hunter series by L.K. Hamiliton.. Some of the best damn fun reading I have EVER done... Currently reading - A Death in Texas - about the 1998 dragging death of James Byrd Jr.; Edgar Allen Poe - Complete Works and Poems; Blackbeard; Elizabeth I and a vampire short story book... It's a bad habit to start a bunch at one time!!!
I am currently reading L.K. Hamilton's Incubus Dreams(Anita Blake); Dante's Divine Comedy; The Jesus I Never Knew by Yancy and a new buy King Henry VIII The Kind and His Court..... Oh and I'm impaitiently awaiting the next two issues of The Hockey News subscription :D - yeah I'm a reader
Heroes
My mom... for too many reasons that would never fit on any sized internet page....
There's only one of me (the world, no doubt, is thankful ;p)!!! But I'm IRISH, I've been told I'm complex - I dunno, I don't see it... I love to laugh and make people laugh and if it's accomplished at my expense, that's fine with me... I appreciate the little things in life..... I refuse to grow up completely, it's so much fun just getting dirty with the kids!!..... I LOVE sports and am capable of watching almost all of it on TV, yes even golf..... And yet, I still manage to be utterly sarcastic -there's no faking my natural smart ass'd-ness ;) It runs in the family...
I am DIE HARD loyal to my friends and family... Those who I treasure, I hold very close to my heart and will stand with them to the end... But I do have a list, THE LIST, for those people who's paths I've crossed and it was not pretty - no it was disasterous... Currently, there are only 4 people on that list, and once you are on.. There's no getting off...
Also, the music I love is the soundtrack to my life.. It's a part of my soul.. I sing wherever and whenever the mood strikes me (co-workers can attest to that)... And the bands listed in my Top pals are that soundtrack to which I will forever be thankful, grateful and jammin' to until the day I die... I truly LOVE their music and hope to meet them one day to thank them for it, then have a beer or two with 'em :)
Who I'd like to meet: **I'd like to meet these guys that are on my all time fave singers list:
Geoff Tate ~~ Roy Khan ~~ Tobias Sammet ~~ Daniel Heiman
My other faves I've met and hope to meet again:
Midnight - my brother!!! ~~ Nils K. Rue ~~ Michael Eriksen
** And I'd LOVE to meet people that are allergic to DRAMA - I don't deal with it or people that thrive on it or cause it..
**PLEASE** - if you send a friends request and your profile is set to private and I don't know who you are, please shoot me a message... otherwise the request will be denied... Also - I am NOT a casual ANYTHING... I'm not here to "hook up" - I think better of myself than that...
I'm just looking to meet some kewl people who dig the same bands/ music I do, love to watch sports or check the games out live...
I'd love to sit and have coffee and long conversations with John MacArthur, Tom DuBois, Neil Gaiman, L.K. Hamiliton and any of the above mentioned names or those listed below :)...
This was such sad news that awaited me when I got back from vacation...I hope you are doing well. The music world lost a truly talented individual...and, in his words, which have stuck in my mind since I first heard them in High School...."In Death I've found the answer, In death I live again, fear not the reaper's blade, it does not mean the end, It never really ends......."
I am completely devastated by this absolute tragedy, the METAL/Music community has lost yet another alltime great! Even though I didn't know MIDNIGHT (real name: John Patrick McDonald Jr.) personally... his voice and music has touched my soul and brought me through many a dark time in my own life! He will be missed dearly, and never be forgotten! MIDNIGHT will forever live on in all of our hearts and minds through his amazing music! May his soul R.I.P.!
Can you believe it, Jenn?! I know you're just as crushed as I am. He's painting skies another brighter shade of blue. Hope you're hanging in there. RIP, Midnight. :(
