Hi, I'm Ryan Sutter and I'll be your bio writer for the day. You've found the MySpace page for my music, whether done all by my little lonesome or in collaboration with my band, Trumpet Marine. Here's a little background...
Trumpet Marine was hatched in response to the 2007 RPM Challenge. The lineup has been flexible and currently consists of myself (guitar, some keys, lead vocals), Josh "Fixed Gear" Paro (bass, vocals), Laura "Crazy Skull" Abend (keys, vocals, trumpet, misc percussion) and Dave "Insert Nickname Here" Vanderwall (drums, vocals). Former participants in the Trumpet Marine lifestyle have included Kevin Robertson (drums), Bob Aderhold (guitar, vocals), George Green (bass), and Rick Faber (bass). There is only one Trumpet Marine album, "Louder Longer Lobster", recorded for the 2007 RPM Challenge so a lot of the live material we play is currently culled from my solo albums and material I recorded with other bands. We'll be developing more original Trumpet Marine stuff soon.
About the current lineup... Josh is a bass-player extraordinaire who was the organizing genius behind Faribault MN's bestest music festival ever, October Ridge as well as the co-star of a great play in last year's Fringe Festival at the Bryant Lake Bowl. He has previously dabbled in recording solo work and collaborated with Eric Elvendahl of HighTV (and others). Laura is a talented multi-instrumentalist and can read music way the hell better than I can. She played the trumpet in marching band and has the gloves to prove it. She was also Josh's co-star in the aforementioned play. With her on the keys, everything sounds better. And then there is Dave. Dave Vanderwall is an accomplished multi-instrumentalist, a member of the Immersion Composition Society, a solo-recording artist and the drummer in the hardest working 80's cover band in show business, After School Special. These three hardy souls have elected to join me under the Trumpet Marine banner and I couldn't be happier.
Me? I ran the Nuclear Gopher record label for 15 years, played in The Lavone for 17 years, started doing the solo music thing back in 2004 and have contributed to over 30 albums to one degree or another since I first picked up a guitar in 6th grade. Now I'm working with Trumpet Marine. Yee hah cowboy!
Ryan Sutter/Trumpet Marine's Friend Space (Top 16)
Wow! It says Ryan Sutter on my page now, brings me back...would you believe I still use the cracked version of cool edit you sent me for editing? yup, anyway my goal was hookers, blow and gold-plated caviar but I guess your right...
Hey come check out this show! Its a show I booked so I want to show owners that I can get people to come out! So if your looking for something to do friday, here it is! Hope to see you there!
First one there gets a free beer one me.... or maybe just a high five!
Hey Ryan! Sorry I didn't make it out to your house! I forgot about it until later today when it was already too late! But I hope it was super fun! :) Thanks for the invite!
Possibly, I will try to make it. Maybe I'll see if my friend who really liked the "We have to show eachother that we love eachother" song can come too. :)
Hail Trumpet Marine! I am digging the new tunes! Really hooky, fascinating stuff. Kind of early Simon & G crossed with Emmitt Rhodes crossed with I don't know what. I don't hear the King Crimson influence yet.
I'll try to make it to the Acadia show, maybe see you there!
Thanks for the add! I hope we'll all be able to get together soon and make film or two. Also, congrats on your new niece. She'll no doubt live up to her name and be a Rock Star. Give my congrats to Reed too.
