Article written about Truse: Music for a Turbulent Time, August 10th, 2008 from indiemusicportal.com
It has been many years since I’ve heard music that both inspired thought as well as put me at ease; this is exactly what I found myself experiencing when listening to the music of Truse. Bringing together a combination of modern style and ‘60s passion, Truse brings to the music world something that has been lost in many of the artists we hear on the radio each day.
Truse grew up in Los Angeles Ca. He became interested in worldly issues at a very young age and started his activism career at UCSB with the founding of the first UCSB chapter of Students for a Free Tibet.
Although it’s difficult to place just one label on this eclectic artist that has the talent to create music in genres ranging from hip hop to folk, there is no question that Truse is an activist musician who’s focus on social change through music will no doubt bring him a strong fan following in these troubled times.
"Truse is one of the most prolific lyricists of our time. Combine that with incredibly well produced and original beats and you have the makings of a masterpiece." Daniel Gross
Very much like the ‘60s, Americans are in need of leadership that inspires rather than dictates. Again, much like the ‘60s, music lovers, especially, are turning to celebrities and musicians to provide them what their elected leadership has failed to do: provide direction. Truse follows in the footsteps of some of the greatest names in music made famous during a turbulent time in American history; his music and ideas must be heard to be appreciated.
