The Truth is...
"we are 4 musicians who love ALL music. From classical to jazz, to rock and back, 'Truth Be Told' has been a way for us to incorporate these diverse musical influences into a unique style of Alternative Rock songwriting."
Vocalist and frontman Dave Nenner couldn't have said it better. After one listen to the band's vicious track entitled, "Camera Shy", it is easy to hear a plethora of influences, yet still feel as though you are listening to something that straddles the front line of cutting-edge modern rock.
On their debut LP entitled, "Artificial Hero", seamlessness transitions propel one song into the next, but each song still keeps its own personality. The songwriting of such powerhouses as STP, Incubus, and even Led Zeppelin come to mind; each song takes you to its own unique place, but you ALWAYS know it's Truth Be Told.
Produced by Drew Mazurek (Linkin Park, H.I.M., Head Automatica, Nothingface), mastered by Alan Douches (Thrice, He is Legend, The Ramones, The Misfits), and co-engineered by Jeff Klein (guitarist for TBT), "Artificial Hero" began simply as a batch of songs. Yet through the band's vision and ever-growing bond as songwriters, it became a cohesive piece about feigning a role. The lyrical content is marked by personal experience and contains subtle common threads between songs. Released officially in 2008, this is definitely an album to look out for.
TBT comes from Baltimore, MD. They have toured ever since their initial formation in 2006, and have shared the stage with such national names as 12 Stones, Pop Evil, Evolver, and Suicide City.
If you know anything about the history of such Baltimore/Washington hometown heros as Good Charlotte, Bleed the Dream, and Jimmie's Chicken Shack, then you know about the camaraderie in Maryland and DC's music scene. Truth Be Told is no exception. After seeing them put on an amazing performance last February at Baltimore's premier venue, Rams Head Live, I witnessed a humbling sense of cross-promotion from their members. After the show, as they spoke to their fans, TBT made sure to promote upcoming shows in and around the area featuring OTHER bands they knew!
Now I'm from New York City, and this blew my mind; we have NO sense of community between bands- it's every band for themselves. TBT showed an AMAZING sense of what I knew always existed in the Maryland/DC music scene: the creation of a musical community to HELP EACH OTHER.
In today's music business, it is a rarity to find anything like this; and I believe it is the ONLY way to be successful. Combining their work ethic with everything amazing about the "Artificial Hero" debut LP, it is easy to see why Truth Be Told will be going very far, very soon...
