Truth Trax is the simple idea that local musicians, bands, solo artists, comedians, poets come together in all major cities across the UK to create a copyright free - Grassroots street level and multi-media distributed compilation CD of new music direct and FREE to the general public - in support of the NO2ID campaign and the various campaigns calling for official investigations into 9/11 and 7/7, and with equal concern with regards to the error prone Database state, loss of privacy, the Iraq War, WMD’s, rendition flights, UK & US foreign policy, and a need for a proper referendum on the European Union.
The CD is a one stop shop for information and contacts on these issues, and a fresh way of side stepping the usual barriers people throw up to avoid contemplating this kind of info. It’s a free music CD to entertain which needs the support of activists on the street to take this opportunity to add a 2nd disc that will be a free DVD or VCD stuck in the back of the sleeve, featuring a complimentary documentary covering some or all of the major points raised.
The DVD/VCD is just as important as the music is especially following the rise in recent years of successful online independent documentary making. Part of an information revolution that has become the way many people now discover the other side of the news, sad to say that as many people these days seem to find reading a book hard, everybody always loves the movies!.
As more needs to be done to educate the public on the systematic erosion of our human rights since the War on terror, 2 party politricks, and the rise of the surveillance culture, Big Brother, I.D cards and the media’s conformity or outright censorship, this is a way of musicians doing something about it and inspiring others to do the same. Further raising the issues to the public as a whole and reaching out through all music styles and genre to a UK youth culture that will be increasingly effected by these radical shifts and changes to our social and political climate.
The CD will be packed with some of the coolest new tunes around from the hotbeds of UK musical talent to be found in Leeds, Manchester, Bristol, every major city in the whole country.The music inspires, the film(s) provide the information. The concept as a whole is a vehicle to get around the media brainwashing that paints anyone giving a free copy of "Loose Change" as a conspiracy nut or a citizen concerned by state spying must have something to hide, the anti war protester is an anarchist etc...who knows maybe it will help a little in bringing together the current protest movements that are too often fighting a losing battle for publicity and fair and balanced media exposure. The vital ingredient and who Truth Trax is really for is the wide open or shut, eye’s and ears of the general public. A reality check maybe for some, and chance to get involved and spread the word for others.
This album is a concept, to unite and by the free inclusion of a DVD and various very handy contacts, websites, help network through DIY distribution us them and YOU!. Especially relevant here in the UK with the introduction of paid for Council flyer licences we now have "with permission only" public information sharing, making things easy for the chain pubs to tell you where to get drunk cheaply and get their message across, but not so easy for YOU or us.
A CD like this gets Documentary’s and information to outlets for the general public that are often largely unavailable and unreceptive to such material, Universities and Colleges, Schools, Youth Clubs, Nightclubs, Pubs, Bars, Off-licences, Libraries, Sandwich shops, News Agents, Computer shops, Take-aways, the list goes on...left like a pile of promotional flyers as a free music CD made by local talent!.
Last but not least, there is another good reason to do this. Out of sheer disappointment with the current UK and Global music scene(s) lack lustre non-existent response to all of the issues above?. How many years of madness and you can still only count on one hand the amount of artists who have used their art to protest, to stand up, to be counted...Neil Young, The Dixie Chicks, Henry Rollins, Willy Nelson we salute you...not much word from the UK...that is ...until now.
