May you have,
Walls for the wind
And a roof for the rain,
And drinks bedside the fire
Laughter to cheer you
And those you love near you,
And all that your heart may desire.

Blaxcot aka Mike Ogletree is an African-American-Scotsman.
-
In the year 1956 he was the first black man to be born in Scotland, the first Black Scot, an Afro-Celt.

Son of a US Airman and a Scots lass, he was born and raised in Burns Country; Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, a place frequented often by Robert Burns.
-
He is a musician who played drums with the Scottish rock band Simple Minds.
-
Blaxcot lives and works in Brooklyn.
-
Myspace: www.myspace.com/blackscot,
-
Blaxcot's latest work, inspired by the poems of Burns, borrows from the title of the poet's first publication:
THE KILMARNOCK EDITION
SONGS CHIEFLY IN THE SCOTTISH DIALECT

Hey.
Did you know that the first black man to be born in Scotland is alive and living in Brooklyn, New York?

No sh*t!

Yeah, Mike Ogletree, calls himself Blaxcot,
Black Scot. Get it?
Used to play drums with the Simple Minds, he's Old Skool. Got a new album coming out of funky reggae Scottish poetry by a guy name Robert Burns. Makes videos too. On Myspace and Youtube, check out his music video, Don't Dance Alone

Guys got talent.

Damn straight.
-
The words are Burns
The music and pictures are Blaxcot.

PERSONAL DIPLOMACY

"...THere are no universal panaceas for the problems of development with which the greater part of mankind is today faced. Each nation will inevitably pursue that course wich appears best suited to its unique characteristics, but no nation can pursue its course in isolation and no nation can develop and prosper with its back turned to the rest of the world in terms of trade, techniques, resources and ideas. Each of us depends upon the other, can learn from the other and in pursuing its own destiny will go further and suceed more quickly with others . Indeed, the free exchange of support and ideas is an essential condition to world understanding and equally to world progress."

Speech by Emperor Haile Selassie I
10 february 1966

Good Morning My dear Trybe Friends! America is getting ready to celebrate her Independance tomorrow (July 4th)and I was sitting here pondering things and I realized that America's forefathers patterned our Declaration of Independance after the one at Arborath (sorry if I spelled it wrong)and I wanted to thank your nation, Scotland; for being so adamant about freedom that your country men along with mine; fought and died for our lands and all we hold dear and sacred.
Thanks again and keep rocking!!!
