"The extraordinary "creative" producer (creative in deference to the producer in name only) is a man who, after deciding on the work he wants to produce, chooses the ideal collaborators for each job in connection with the planned production. He then proceeds to interest these men and women in his plan and convince them of the necessity of their collaboration. Once they have agreed on the basic ideas, the producer leaves them alone so that they can create and use their talents to the fullest extent. The ordinary producer operates differently. Once the contracts have been signed, he imposes his ideas from the construction of the work to the casting, costuming, etc., and meddles in everybody's functions. He complains about the stubbornness, stupidity, the uncooperative spirit of his erstwhile heroes, who do not throw in the towel only because of their devotion to the cause and the job they feel compelled to finish!"
