"...Like Arcade Fire being fronted by a deranged evangelist getting his toenails pulled sans anaesthetic ... An unnerving, apocalyptic couple of minutes of pulpit preaching from utterly demented Adam Woolway, it's terrifying, gargantuan and completely brilliant. Best catch them before the exorcist does though."
NME ~ Greg Cochrane
"Their debut LP, has plenty to say. See single Oh Solitude, a blubbery freak-out of bandstand drumming and stencilled xylophone which borrows the scientific 'orchestral explosion technique' from Broken Social Scene. Meanwhile, disheartening volcanic-rocker God Damn Broke And Broken Hearted threatens to carve out a Guillemots or Mystery Jets-shaped canoe to paddle. If, like they suggest, Liberal England is lying in a ditch somewhere then this is one hellova mayday call. Mute magic."
The Guardian ~ Jude Rogers
"They sing songs in shouty, American-accented unison about wars, graves and solitude over thudding pianos, growling basslines, and relentless percussion, bringing to mind the anarchy of Pixies and the strange pastoralism of British Sea Power."
The Sun ~ SJD
"Portsmouth's SDOLE straddle the line between brilliant and eccentric. They take everything quaint about middle England folkness but mix in a dark sinisterness which bear comparisons with Arcade Fire. The thrashing, euphoric crescendos they manage to create from almost childlike simplicity are invigorating.
"The simple drummed intro to A Day, Another Day gives with to its typical, crashing mix of beauty, marching band bravado and shout-along choruses. Elsewhere delicate sound-scapes wash over you as you spiral upwards, before the feeling of free falling takes over again. Meanwhile SDOLE go about their business wondering what all the fuss is about."

Sounds very exciting Kelly. I am sure it will be worth the wait. I look forward to it entering my ear space soon...
I hope you guys are all doing well. And I really wanna see you play again soon. I have made many endevours to introduce your ways to those around me, to much success...Here's hoping that this happeneing elsewhere in this strange land we call England or as I like to call it "The land of embarrassment and breakfast"...
Are you planning on touring soon? Or will this accompany the album release?
I think it is the main riff that does it, but all of the new songs appear to have that special something. I think that September Sparrows/Flagships will both be amazing on record. I am doing Brixton along with a number of others. The good news that of 5 new people I went to Purple Turtle with 4 are now converts and have vowed to see you again.
Don't know if you are confirmed yet but the Brixton Windmill has you as headliners for Cat's Alldayer #3 on saturday june 20th. http://www.wegottickets.com/event/50678
Should be great, and at an intimate venue too. The Purple Turtle was grand, Lines is my favourite of the new ones, with September Sparrows a close second. Avance!
hey guys, i hope you enjoyed this proper show last Wednesday. I'm dreaming seeing you live here (Nantes) one day, and already know with which other band you could fill the evening. It would be for sure an amazing gig !!
I've quickly reveived 'Like A Curtain Falling', ty for that. Thanks too for the surprises attached, much appreciated ... so was le petit mot en français (grand merci Adam, très sympa d'avoir ajouté un message, en français qui plus est).
love your sound. the guitars remind me of the wedding present, one of my favorite bands and your vocals are great! especially love the extra push when you all sing together. makes me want to skate...
anyway, ever heard of indie deathrock? the term came to mind when i finished my latest track.
Hmm maybe you should raise a fund to get the money :p I sure would add mine. If there are serious plans in the future, let me know and maybe I can help you. Furthermore: enjoy playing in Purple Turtle this month :) (awful stage name by the way ssh.)
Ah finally someone who agrees with me about coming back to the Netherlands :) 'Winter' sounds wonderful, even without the clatter, bang & crash! xxx Paulien
Brilliant cheers, I searched around but couldn't find any info on the single. Just earlier demo versions of those songs then. Congratulations on September Sparrows especially, great music, and to me your best lyrics so far. Cannot wait for a full band version. Added to the likes of Like A Curtain... and Young Philosophers the new album is already shaping up to be astounding. I will now go into hiding until the Purple Turtle gig.
