    .. East of Eden by John Steinbeck is my all time favorite book. I borrowed it from my mom and took it to school. My fourth grade teacher looked at me in disbelief and asked me if I understood any of what I was reading. Of course I didn't but I was fascinated with the character of Cathy Ames after seeing Jane Seymour portray her in the movie. So- fast foward to age 15 when I read it entirely and understood it more completely. I have re-read it over the years and will continue to do so until I die. It is a big, grand book. Lush, biblical in fact. I enjoy non fiction (bio's, memoirs) as well.. but every few years I come back to this one! Photobucket
