   About Tucson Symphony Orchestra
The Tucson Symphony Orchestra is the oldest continuing professional performing arts organization in the state of Arizona.

The TSO consists of an eclectic mix of musicians who hail from all over the United States and abroad, representing wide spectrums of personality, age, political/social views, humor, philosophy, religion, academic background, and hobbies, yet we have all been seduced by this art form. Shostakovich’s anger and devastation, Mozart’s exuberance, the epic grandeur of Wagner, the transcendental reveries of Debussy and Messiaen, the loquacious fervor of Berio, the wailing pathos of Mahler, and the dizzy, angular lyricism of Schoenberg…they captivate us and suddenly we want nothing more than to keep seeking what they sought. Human consciousness is a lonely place, yet in them, in each other, and in you, we see the footsteps of others who have passed through those same isolated places.

If humanity’s emergence is defined by the development of self-consciousness (our understanding of our own fleeting existence), then many constants in our culture may be seen as an antidote to that realization. On the contrary, art magnifies it. It is a catalyst for the celebration of everything that results from our ability to think on a human scale. It is meaning. It is an abstraction of life. It is what entices us to keep exploring the most remote corners of our own consciousness.

It is an extraordinary sensation to sit in the dark hall, your eyes fixed on the orchestra as you hear Stravinsky crying out to you. You are surrounded by strangers, yet the same current of emotion is rushing through everyone’s veins all at once. You notice intricate textures in a Mozart symphony and, every time a new instrument transforms a fragment of a melody, a door opens in your head and you can hear another voice that you didn’t notice a moment before. A veil of tension is woven into a Mahler symphony and, as that veil disintegrates, a wave of catharsis makes you lose track of time and space.

Come experience what will heighten your perspectives of life, philosophy, spirituality, emotion, and intellect. Wear casual clothes or dress clothes. Come alone, with a date, or with a group. It’s your orchestra.

Please share your insights and ideas via posted comments or messages. We’d love to hear from you!

Hi Tucson Symphony Orchestra,
Just stopped by to say hello and thank you again for your friendship. I am honored by it.

I also wanted to tell you that I am casting for several musicians, vocalist, and dancers. I am producing a show for tour and need artists not only for recording but for touring as well. As you may or may not know, I am preparing for a tour this summer/ fall to five cities across the globe, and am looking for solid talent. Since you have been so kind in lending me your ear, and offering your friendship, I thought I might come to myspace before putting ads in the trades. So I came to myspace first.

PLEASE READ IN DETAIL... it may answer your questions. I am offering a flat rate for service or a percentage of profits off the sales of recorded material. That part is up to you. Rates and fees will be discussed upon approval in the first round of the selection process. If you know of someone who might be interested in this information, please pass this note on to them.

Here’s what I am looking for:
Orchestral:

Make sure to include a Current Photo (JPEG or Bitmap only), MP3 (music) or WMV (video for dance or live performance) of some of your best work; something that make you stand out from the rest. Please do not send anything that lasts for more than 30 seconds and no file over 10 mb will be accepted. Make it short and sweet, and make it count. If I need any more material, I will let you know.
