Tulpa artistic bio:
From an early age I had a strong passion for rhythm and I remember banging in the kitchen on whatever my eyes can spot. Then I started playing drums in a school band with a great enthusiasm. My affection to sound was later dedicated to bands like Underworld and Future Sound of London. This desire for electronic sound evolved and with my first computer I started experiments with different audio software. Together with my friend Stoyan Stoyanov we created our first project-“Radiant” and started performing live at various underground events. During that time I was producing music under the name Tulpa. This is still my main project and I experiment with minimalistic sound and together with my friend Pavel Terziiski (voice) we dive also into more downtempo and atmospheric music. Together with him we joined a band called Kayno Yesno Slonce which is an ethno based project -a fusion of soundscapes and acoustic instruments. I have a serious interest in sound engineering and I enrolled this subject five years ago in the university. I’ve been working as a sound engineer in several advertisements the biggest of which was one for Renaut. I am also a co-founder of an event organizing crew called Magrathea which was founded six years ago and still plays an important role in the underground music scene in Sofia. At some of the events I play as a dj, trying to turn attention into deep and balanced sound with minimalistic groove. We organize a huge open air festival each summer in the mountain ,promoting not only music but also ideas about nature and ecology. I am also involved into youth action with my NGO, called Youth Creative Network(YARTZ). Currently my project Tulpa is oriented in serious home studio work and live performance which includes male voices and a girl making live visuals and me on the computer and when possible I play digital drums on stage. With this project I am playing both on small underground events and festivals –the biggest of which was this summer at No Man’s Land festival in Hungary.
