"Punk lounge, tv ska, funk - even jazz (though never jazz funk)"
Inspired by God knows what, Chris Salmon, guitar wielding maestro of Stump (quirky(sic) avant gardeners) has pulled
together an altogether different kettle of fish...
Alongside Peter Stephens and Michael Levison of 80's 'punk' act Spit Like Paint, Salmon has found a band that has
created a new genre - forward-looking retro. Ably supported by multi-instrumentalist Steve Wilson and Glyn Owen,
drummer with The Mike Flowers Pops, Tuner have recorded a collection of tunes that sound like every band you've ever
heard (without their singers) - the soundtrack to the best, worst film (n)ever seen.
With music played on proper vintage instruments, recorded on magnetic tape in wide 60's style stereo, you'd be
forgiven for thinking you'd got this pigeon holed, but bear in mind Tuner have performed with Can's Damo Suzuki and
are joined on their album by saw player, Ruby Wright, and the serially ubiquitous brass player Terry Edwards then you
know you have to scratch deeper...
9 Loaves 5 Fishes the album - look out for a football playing Christ!

Nice gig last night...amazing, made me want to be in a band again! Quite unusual to watch a band play without a front man, mind you he would have to be pretty outstandig!!! We'll be watching you on your road to fame!!!Long live Tuner!!! (and I will buy the album)...
Tunes on here are fab... The new brass section works really well, and I could listen to that snare sound all day (sorry, but I AM a drummer!!). Also, Pete, are them chords wot I am hearing in places as well as the one-finger-wonder keyboard parts? Triffic, fhx
