    David Allen's Interests
GeneralCars, espeiclaly older ones. (70's through 90's) Modifying EFI systems. Turbocharged cars, especially modified or aftermarket setups. Electronics, microcontroller projects, power electronics. Boats and repairing/ modifying, restoring them. Being on the water. Being outside enjoying nature even though I don't hunt.
MusicMost music is great! Especially dance/ electronic. XM81 BPM all the way!! Acually it's easier to say what I don't like. Don't like rap, slow country love songs, nothing slow or sad, nor bad language.
MoviesNot much time to watch them! I loved Lord of the Rings (Frodo was my desktop wallpaper for a long time!) Star wars, both the originals and the new ones. Aaron Ralston's story. I was so moved by his story I didn't sleep for 2 days!
TelevisionDirty Jobs w/ Mike Rowe; Anything scientific on Discovery (any of their stations)/ National Geographic or PBS. Medical science shows. All this is of course, WHEN I HAVE TIME to watch any TV.
BooksScience journals, adventure novels, the Bible. anything that fascinates me. Once again, WHEN I HAVE TIME to read any books.
HeroesMom and Dad. They adopted me and my sister, and still love me and loved her through her difficulties; and now mom and dad are raising her 2 children now that she is gone... Someone I met when I first went on the road doing Field Service. Has every bit the strength and endurance I have, yet he overcame major birth defect as a child that would have led most normal people to take a sedentary job... And myself, in a humble way. I have too many good traits for it to be purely chance. My physical life has been spared at least twice. I'm here for a reason that I haven't fully figured out. The adventure will go on.

About me:
OK I hope this isn't too dumb. I like challenges, if there's even a small chance of success; I'll succeed. However high the mountains, wide the rivers, and dry the desert between me and my goals I will be there. Once there, I'll find yet more satisfaction in showing friends the way. Groups of people I don't know well make me uncomfortable. If forced to interact with the group I act strong and in charge, else I find a corner to stay in. One on one, I'm affectionate and outgoing. My greatest satisfaction comes from making people I care about feel good; be it with good conversation, a pat on the back, watching their belly get full at the dinner table. I love feeling good, and things that make me feel good and are good for my body. Very few can keep up when I'm motivated. There's enough strength and energy in me to get done whatever I put my mind to. Yet I still love to rest, warm under a blanket simply soaking up the great feelings of just being live and having so much to be thankful for. My aptitude for designing, repairing, and understanding systems, things, and ideas is second to none. Since I was a kid I've been a tinkerer. I love explaining things to people, When I make someone understand something, I get this awesome feeling of accomplishment! With my early start and varied experiences I've a lot to share. I'm also a good listener when someone credible has a story to tell; I never pass up an opportunity to learn. By the way, my pictures tell some more of my story that words don't do justice to. I'm member of the following discussion groups:

DIY-EFI and GMECM - Fuel Injection retrofits and engine management tech support

Rare GM Front-Wheel Drive A-Body - Enthusiasts list for these midsize family cars

JY-Turbo - Using JunkYard (used) turbochargers to boost the power of your car!

60V6 - Enthusiasts site for the General Motors Chevy V6 motor.

TurboBuick - Enthusiasts site for the mighty Grand National and all cars sharing it's awesome turbocharged V6 engine.

Hi David Allen,
It's nice running across you! I'm teaching chem & physics @ bayou this year, strangely enough, so I've been looking for BA folks. We need your "buildability" for machine building contest - not to mention the homecoming float!

Thank you SO much for the diet Grapico's! I gave some to Marka too so I won't drink them all. :) We did have a safe trip back, it was raining as we entered Texas. Wish I could send some rain your way! But we had a great time, can't wait to do it again!

My car is not fixed yet. Thought it was the battery, then the starter, now putting a new battery in. So what day are you supposed to arrive?

Oh my goodness David! I completely forgot about that night at the fair until you mentioned it. That ride with the missing screws was really scary. I wouldn't get on one of those rides now even if I was paid. That night was fun though wasn't it!

Wow! This is hard. We've known each other for a long time now. Well, I guess I'll just pick one. I remember how you always made our homecoming floats so special and different from every other classes. You always made them move and we won every year except for the first time. I think that one was the Little Mermaid and her tail moved. I think we got third that year. But anyway, that is one of the things that stands out the most.
