Unfortunately Jordan Ali (Bass) has left Turbyne. We are currently seeking somebody to take his place. If you consider yourself a competent bass player and want to join we will be putting Guitar Pro tabs up the Internet very soon.
Turbyne was formed in early 2001 by guitarist Calum Walker and drummer Kyle Mitchell in the small town Dumfries in south west Scotland. Over the past seven years the band have been consistently practicing, gigging, writing and recording. Turbyne have undergone line up changes but are now established as a solid group. The band now consists of Keith Fleming on vocals, Calum Walker and Robert Grierson on lead and rhythm guitars, Jordan Ali on bass and Kyle Mitchell on drums.
Turbyne are an extremely hard working band dedicated to writing and playing great music, taking influence from many bands including Iron Maiden, Dream Theatre to Cannibal Corpse, Also incorporating different musical styles to give a diverse and interesting sound, Turbyne have developed a distinctive, brutal yet melodic sound that can be described simply as Metal! Turbyne have played with a handful of more established UK bands including Gutworm, Seven years dead, Drugdealer cheerleader Second nature and Interlock and have played several gigs outside Dumfries such as Liverpool, Edinburgh and Sheffield. The band also played a small festival in Whitehaven two years in a row and headlined an open air gig arranged by local radio station Westsound in Dumfries playing to 500 people.
In early 2008 Turbyne self-released a four track EP/demo entitled “Eat the heart Gain the courage” recorded at Machine Room studios in Dumfries. Eat the heart Gain the courage was produced and mixed by a good friend of the band Grant Henderson. The demo was met with a good reception from fans selling over 130 copies on its launch nigh alone. Turbyne also received good responses from a few major record labels.
Now, with all the members in their late teens the band is very anxious to get a step further into the music business and get the opportunity to get their music to a larger audience.
The TGM Awards 2009 is coming! The nominations have been announced for the sixth annual awards and we can confirm that Turbyne have 3 nominations, for:
* Best South West Scotland Act * Best Metal Act * Best EP/Album ("Ghosts In The Machine")
The poll opens on Friday 20th November 2009 and will close on Friday 18th December 2009.
