Since 2003, The Turnstiles have honed their rootsy blend of rock and country, playing steadily across North Carolina. With original songs running the gamut from driving rockers a la Crazy Horse to aching ballads, the common threads are engaging melodies, strong lyrics, and spot-on harmonies. In addition to the classic guitars/bass/drums lineup, the six-piece band brings flourishes including lap steel guitar, mandolin, pedal steel, fiddle, and slide guitar.
The Turnstiles emerged from the studio in early 2006 with their new CD, Step Right Up. Dramatically expanding on the template established in their self-titled 2004 EP, Step Right Up features a widely-varied set ranging from fiery (Jericho) to haunting (Hidden In The Wheel) to swinging country (Silas Creek) to slashing roots-rock (Movin, One More Saturday Night).
The band thrives in a live setting, delivering an energetic mix of sublime pop-rock, heartfelt country and country-rock, and ragged/tight garage rockers. In addition to rollicking versions of their original songs, The Turnstiles feature an ever-changing selection of roots, country and rock covers including Neil Young, The Replacements, Merle Haggard and Johnny Cash. With its high-energy shows in Charlotte and across North Carolina, the band has developed a growing cadre of followers.

Brad, the Turnstiles sound great! Wish I was going to be in the South long enough to catch one of your shows. My wife and I have been in Chapel Hill for the past couple weeks visiting friends but we're heading back to PA on Saturday. Being in the Hill brought back some good (and some crazy) memories. Hope you're doing well. Say hello to Scott Everhardt for me.
I love your music! You are on MY TOP 15 Favorite Artists for the week. I change it weekly. Used to gig, among other things, but taking time off and created MY TOP 15. The top 4 are VIP spots for locals only! Congrats! I guess....I don't have a trophy for you but just know I think you rock! Tez
Thanks for the add, good tunes - if you get a chance check out the show.

So, it looks like we'll be down your way this night of nights! We're playing at Evening Muse in Charlotte tonight and would love to see you while we're down. The show begins at around 8pm and if Micah keeps his clothes on, we should be able to put on a pretty great set. If not, then at least it'll be entertaining. :-)
