THE VILLAGE GREEN PRESERVATION SOCIETY FAQ

Q: Are you a Kinks tribute band?
A: Short answer, "no" with a "but". Long answer, "yes" with an "if".

Q: Are you an original band?
A: "Original" in the sense that we perform self-penned material, yes. "Original" in the sense of not sounding like anybody on the current scene, probably. "Original" in the sense of "completely unprecedented and groundbreaking", probably not.

Q: So what makes you different?
A: Well, our music isn't overly loud (in fact we're trying to restrict it to the volume of a moderately cranked home stereo) or overly technological (some of our recording equipment is, alas, digital, but none of our gear), and we believe that the right acoustic guitar chord played the right way can be more shocking and startling than a wall of Marshall stacks. BUT - we also believe that none of the above need mean a negation of energy, emotion or spontaneity. To put it short, we rock - in our own quiet little way.

Q: Are you a duo or a group?
A: We are a duo plus guests. All persons present in our household at the time of music making are pressed into duty. Non-musicians are sent to the Persuasive Percussion Pail for a shaker egg or vibraslap. Everybody happy!

Q: Will you be playing out in the bars and clubs soon?
A: No. The generally accepted way that bands "earn their dues" in front of sparse audiences in dimly lit clubs with bad sound systems is a self-destructive anachronism.

Q: Will you play a party at my house?
A: Now that sounds like a lot more fun. Just make sure we're set up somewhere we're allowed to smoke!

Q: Are you a rock 'n' roll band?
A: Probably not. We don't lose any sleep over it.
